So late last night I tuned into ESPN2 in time for the second half of a West Coast Conference men's basketball semifinal between San Diego and St. Mary's. San Diego pulled off a 75-69 win in double overtime despite trailing the Gaels by 15 midway through the second half; the Toreros finished the second half on a 19-4 run. The two five-minute overtimes were complete opposites: each team scored just 3 points in the first OT, while in the second San Diego outscored St. Mary's 20-16.

What intrigued me more than the game was this: San Diego is hosting the tournament this year, and their home building is the Jenny Craig Pavilion. There are many buildings and arenas with corporate sponsorship, but this isn't really one of them. The diet guru and her husband donated $10 million to the school according to Wikipedia. Still, who wants to play basketball at the Jenny Craig Pavilion?

There is a saving grace: the place is commonly referred to as…the Slim Gym. — Joe Guckin
