The Kirkpinar traditional Turkish oil wrestling championship has been going on for over 600 years, and last weekend was the latest installment. While it certainly does qualify as a sport, you have to wonder what else these guys are up to when they, according to a reporter in a Youtube video, often win (as you can see in the pic) by placing “a worrying well-oiled fist near your opponent’s anus.” Some of the Youtube videos even have content warnings.
Unfortunately, we didn’t have a photographer there; but from the videos and photo links we’re sharing here, you can see why the proclaimed “Most macho sport in the world” has become a popular spectator event for gay men.
