Baseball has another scandal brewing on its horizon and this one is a doozy. Former second baseman Roberto Alomar is being accused of knowingly having unprotected sex while “he knew he had AIDS.” Alomar’s ex-girlfriend Ilya Dall has filed a lawsuit in state and Federal court for damages totalling $15 Million for the awful allegations. The New York Daily News reports:

…Alomar finally got tested in January 2006 while suffering from a cough, fatigue and shingles.

“The test results of him being HIV-positive was given to him and the plaintiff on or about Feb.6, 2006,” the $15 million negligence suit says.

…Alomar’s skin had turned purple, he was foaming at the mouth and a spinal tap “showed he had full-blown AIDS,” the suit says.

Alomar retired from baseball 4 years ago due to health issues and has largely stayed out of the limelight since then. Her lawsuit also makes statements about Alomar being raped by two men when he was a teenager, but steadfastly refusing to get tested for HIV. Though, she alleges he tested positive when he moved to Cleveland in the early ’90s.

“He jeopardized the health, well-being and life of the plaintiff, which caused her to have a fear of contracting AIDS, often referred to as AIDS phobia,” the suit says.

Alomar’s camp has been extremely tight-lipped about his HIV status, but has called the lawsuit “baseless.”
