Rick Reilly has written a fantastic column for ESPN The Magazine bidding farewell to his friends Mike Penner and Christine Daniels. Penner was the LA Times sportswriter who transitioned famously to Daniels, who then transitioned quietly back to Penner. In November Penner took his life, and it left Reilly feeling like he lost two friends.
Last month, the family held a private memorial service for Penner. This Saturday there is a public memorial service being held for Daniels. The memorial service is this Saturday, 4pm-5:30, at the Metropolitan Community Church, 4953 Franklin Ave., in Hollywood. I will be attending and would love to see any and all of you there to pay respects to an extraordinary person.
