It is all but certain that there will be a new BCS champion in college football after Alabama fell to LSU, 24-21. It is Alabama’s second loss, all but eliminating them from title contention.

The Tide's loss was good news for teams like Boise State and TCU, "non-automatic qualifiers." Both are still unbeaten (TCU crushed previously unbeaten Utah on Saturday) and need some help to crash the BCS title game. One thing is clear — if Oregon and Auburn finish the season unbeaten, they will play for the BCS title.

Auburn, though, still has to play Alabama. Had the Tide beaten LSU and faced Auburn with only one loss, the winner of that game would have likely gotten one of the two slots. Now, all Alabama can do is be the spoiler. Oregon still had the Civil War against Oregon State, so they are not yet of the woods.

There is still a month to go in the season, but the number of teams with a realistic shot at the BCS title game just dropped by one with 'Bama's loss.
