The Washington Metros came away with their first gay flag football tournament championship at the Sunshine Cup, beating the host South Florida Cat 5, 35-7, in the championship game. Washington beat the Atlanta Avengers, and South Florida topped the New York X-Treme, to get to the finals. Video of the finals is after the jump, courtesy of Total Sports.
It was the inaugural Sunshine Cup and from the looks of it the tone of the tournament was great. The NGFFL has wanted a warm-weather tournament in the dead of winter for those cold-weather teams, and they got it! Congrats to the Metros and the Cat 5 for their break-through success!
