Outsports has learned that an NCAA Division 1 athletic conference will announce a formal partnership with the You Can Play project on Tuesday. You Can Play co-founder Patrick Burke told Outsports:

We really are overjoyed at this partnership. Getting commitments from excellent D1 schools to recognize, support, protect, and celebrate the LGBT athletic community is a major step towards ensuring full equality in college sports. LGBT athletes and their allies at these schools will be given a powerful voice to make their arenas welcoming environments. It shows tremendous leadership by the conference to be first to step up on this endeavor.

We're told the ground-breaking partnership is a deep commitment by the conference that will affect every coach and athlete at every member school.
