The Golden State Warriors have not played in San Francisco since 1966. For most of the time since then they’ve called (what now is) Oracle Arena in Oakland their home. But new team president Rick Welts, along with team co-owner Peter Guber and NBA president David Stern, have announced the team’s return to San Francisco in 2017. Their proposed home is a new arena to be built on Piers 30-32, just blocks away from the Giants’ AT&T Park.

While five years is a long time to wait for our brothers and sisters in the Castro, it's the earliest the team can move per contracts with the City of Oakland.
