Campus Pride and the University of Richmond are teaming up to present an LGBT College Sports Summit, to be held on the Richmond Campus February 6-7, 2014. The event is aimed to educate students and staff at the University of Richmond, as well as educators and LGBT students from across the country looking to partner with athletic departments on LGBT education and training initiatives.

The summit schedule includes conversations about bullying, coming out, religion, trans athletes and other issues. Keynote speakers at the summit will be trans former college basketball player Kye Allums and LGBT sports educator and pioneer Sue Rankin.

"This is the first of many more education programs to come from Campus Pride to educate and create awareness on a topic still not largely discussed, or where there are not systemic actions to create the necessary change to be LGBT inclusive in college sports culture," said Campus Pride executive director Shane Windmeyer.

Some of those other projects include Campus Pride's 2012 National College Athlete Report and their Top 10 LGBT-friendly Athletic Programs list. This year they are also creating a national award for LGBT and ally student athletes through their Voice & Action Leadership program.

Also teaming up with Campus Pride are the national LGBT-athlete network GO! Athletes and the StandUp Foundation.
