Orlando Cruz Wins Second Fight After Coming Out

Orlando Cruz - J. Meric

The openly gay Cruz wore a rainbow flag during the match, now faces a shot at the WBO title.

Openly gay professional boxer Orlando Cruz won his second bout after coming out publicly last autumn. This time it was a sixth round TKO against Aaron "The Bomber" Martinez. It was only the second loss for for Martinez in his professional career. You can watch the full video below.

Cruz wore rainbow-flag trunks as a nod to his sexual orientation. After Martinez was on his back in the sixth round, Cruz climbed the ropes and pointed to the rainbow flag on his trunks. The crowd loved it and seemed love him.

Cruz took to twitter to thank God and his grandmother. He also specifically thanks the LGBT community for the support he's seen:

Next up, Cruz wants a shot at the WBO Featherweight Championship. While reports say he's next in line to fight the current champ, Mikey Garcia, for the title, ESPN claims that Garcia's team intends to have former champion Juan Manuel Lopez face him.
