And the winner for dumbest comments on Jason Collins coming out as gay go to Asante Samuel, cornerback of the Atlanta Falcons. He told Fox Sports radio:

"Straight people are not announcing they're straight, so why does everybody have to announce their sexuality or whatever? You know, what they prefer. So that's just how I see it. That's my opinion on things. All respect you know, I have nothing but respect for the people whoever decisions they make and whatever, but you know,:
Earth to Samuel: Every time a male athlete mentions his wife or girlfriend or TV shows them in the stands, it's a declaration of their heterosexuality. I wish they would stop flaunting it.
He followed up Thursday on ESPN, where he was asked about his comments:

Samuel said "sports and sexuality is not a combination" and that "the world" is trying to make this a big deal. Samuel would prefer everybody "stick to sports." Samuel also stated that he doesn't want kids being exposed to homosexuality. "I don't want to teach my kids those things," said Samuel. "I teach my kid God, how God lives his life."
Great, he's dumb and religious, always a bad combination.
