Nick Symmonds won the silver medal in the 800-meter final at the World Championships in Moscow.
29 year old Nick Symmonds lost the gold to 19 year old Mohammed Aman of Ethopia. He was beaten by 0.24 seconds. It was the first 800-meter medal for the United States at a world championships or Olympics since Rich Kenah won the bronze medal at the 1997 world meet. It’s the best finish since Dave Wottle's gold at the 1972 Munich Olympics.
He placed 5th at the London Olympics.
"When you have a little boy confused about his feelings being shunned by an organization that was so important in my life, I was really offended," Symmonds says. "Scouting has so many things to teach you."
When not running Nick is an avid outdoors man and loves to go fishing.
Nick resides in Oregon and is a member of the Oregon Track Club Elite.
In 2009 he was one of several pro runners to appear naked in an online Nike ad promoting the Bare Butte Running Camp.
Last but not least he has a 6 year old bunny named Mortimer and a fantastic view from his deck.
This post is in honor of Nick's accomplishments, his character, his beliefs, his support, but mostly it's in honor of his naked butt.
Thank you for stepping up and speaking out.
