Popular culture has cemented in our minds what the American cowboy is and what he looks like. Tough, rugged, stoic and masculine are attributes that probably come to mind.

Members of the International Gay Rodeo Association are here to show us that the American cowboy can be all of those while also being gay.

CNN will air a powerful new episode of its series "This is Life with Lisa Ling'' called "Gay Rodeo,'' which profiles members of the IGRA while also taking an in-depth look at the organization on Sunday, Nov. 9, at 10 pmET.

Founded in 1985, the IGRA coordinates rodeo events across the United States and Canada welcoming members of the LGBT community as participants and spectators. Currently, the IGRA has over 5,000 members.

In addition to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all individuals regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity, the IGRA is committed to philanthropic endeavors by donating money raised through its events to various charitable organizations.

Tune in to see how Western culture and homosexuality can coexist and provide an epic event called "Gay Rodeo.''
