Former New England Patriots (and Bills and Cowboys) quarterback Drew Bledsoe said a gay athlete in an NFL locker room will be no big deal, and the media is making it into a bigger story than the players will. He talked with HuffPost Live Tuesday:

We live in the greatest country ever in the history of the world and it's built on freedom. Right? Freedom of religion, freedom to believe and act how you want. And anybody that doesn't respect people's individual freedoms, those are the people I don't have time for.

He hit all the nails on the head on this one. The media rightfully has made the coming out of various athletes a big story – It's all great news. But they have hammered away at current NFL players saying what a problem they will make it for a gay player in the locker room. But the athletes get it. Glad Bledsoe said it.
