The US Men’s National Team and the US Women’s National team will don their gay apparel in select matches in June as a demonstration of support and acceptance for the LGBT community and Pride Month.

The USMNT will wear the Pride kits during its match in Utah this Saturday against Venezuela. The USWNT will wear the rainbow numbers next week for matches at Sweden and Norway.

No publicly out male athlete has ever played on the USMNT, while a number of out athletes have competed for the women, most notable Megan Rapinoe and Abby Wambach. Robbie Rogers played on the USMNT before he came out.

You can also order the jerseys, customizable at the US soccer store. They are available in both red (the 2017/18 edition) and blue (the 2016/17 edition), complete with your name (or the name of whomever you want) and rainbow-colored numbers. Jersey prices range from $72 to $200, and a portion of the sale will go to the You Can Play project.
