Adam Rippon is the gift that keeps on giving, this time at the Oscars.

The Olympic medalist made an appearance at the Oscars Sunday night and did not disappoint. In addition to his tuxedo, the figure skater wore a leather harness popular with entire subsections of the gay community.

And make no mistake: Rippon knew what he was doing. He toyed with the meaning in a tweet response to fashionista Tyra Banks, calling his fashion choice “FASH-HOE-N.”

Rippon made a big name for himself at the Winter Olympics clearly being his own true self. Now he’s clearly taken the mantel of “gay icon” and run faster than Usain Bolt with it.

Leather harnesses are popular in the leather and bear communities within the gay community. Track down an Eagle bar or a Brut party in your nearby city and you’ll find plenty of leather harnesses. It’s also become popular in party and circuit scenes.
