Nominees Announced for The Major Applewhite Cutest Quarterback Award

It's been a long season, but we've finally narrowed down Captcmdr's candidates for the cutest quarterback award to ten worthy candidates.

The Major Applewhite Cutest Quarterback Award goes to that player who, like The Major, best shows heart, talent, energy in the face of adversity and cute good looks.

 
Brett Basanez 
Northwestern (3-9)

Freshman from Arlington Heights, IL
6'2" / 200 lbs.
Finished the 2002 season with 2,181 passing yards, 7 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.
Kyle Boller
California (7-5)

Senior from Newhall, CA
6'4" / 225 lbs.
From a family of firefighters, Boller led Cal to a surprising season with 2,818 yards passing, 29 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
Jason Campbell 
Auburn (8-4)

Sophomore from Taylorsville, MS
6-4 / 220
Passed for 1,137 yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions.  Also rushed for 200 yards and three more touchdowns.
Ken Dorsey

The leading candidate for the Heisman Trophy, Ken's numbers slipped a bit from last year, throwing for 2,773 yards, 24 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.
Kliff Kingsbury

The Texas Tech passing leader by over 4,000 yards; this year, he threw for 4,642 yards, 42 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Threw for 2,397 yards, 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
Carson Palmer

Senior from Laguna Niguel, CA

Against the toughest schedule in the nation, threw for 3,685 yards, 32 touchdowns and 10 interceptions; had 23 touchdowns and 4 interceptions the second half of the season.

Threw for 4,229 yards, 26 TDs and 13 INTs.
