We know there are plenty of guys out there playing flag football. Right now, we know only of four gay teams playing. If you would like yourself listed as a local contact for gay flag football, or you're playing on a team, please e-mail us and give us the pertinent info.

The Report From L.A.

Nov. 17, 2001

WEATHER: Sunny, breezy, upper 60s. Just about perfect.

TURNOUT: We had 20, which was terrific.

THANKSGIVING WEEKEND: Since 10 people promised (and I know all keep their promises), we will be playing Nov. 24 (the Saturday after Thanksgiving). Ten is a quorum and hope we will get some more.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM A FUN THREE HOURS OF FOOTBALL:

WELCOME: To newcomers Will and John. Both played hard and well. John had a touchdown, Will a couple of nice catches and he was a terrific blocker (just ask Scott).

WELCOME BACK: To Demond (it's been a while), Reuben (it's been a long while), Kevin (back off IR) and Chris.

CATCH OF THE DAY: Reuben, who was awesome all day, made a spectacular catch on a long pass from Pete. JP had great position but Reuben reached around him, snagged the ball and slid into the end zone. Very Cris Carteresque.

HEADS UP PLAY OF THE DAY: Albert caught a long pass, was about to be tackled, and lateraled it back to Reuebn who walked in.

BALL HAWKS: The following had picks on a day on interceptions: Jay. Pete (mulitple). Demond (a nice one he returned for a score). Jim (believe it or not). Albert (multiple). Reuben (multiple). Chris. Sorry if I forgot anyone.

RECORD BOOK: Even if he never plays again, Reuben set a record that will never be broken (though it could be tied): longest interception return for a touchdown. He caught the ball nine yards in the end zone and ran the rest of the way back for a total of 89 yards.

TRICKERY: A nice play was a reverse to Demond, who stopped and threw it back to Jay, who threw a long completion to Chris.

IF AT FIRST YOU DON'T SUCCEED: On a third-down play JP was wide open, but Albert (his own man) raced across and knocked it away as he went for the ball. The same play was run on third down and this time Albert kept his hands to himself. TD.

WALKING WOUNDED: Cyd played with injured abdominal muscles and James with a bad ankle.  Chris, unfortunately (the one with the KISS shirt), tore some cartilage in his shoulder and is out for a while. :-(

TRADED AGAIN: Doug was first on the dark shirt team. Then on whites, and after darks lost a couple of guys, was traded in mid-game back to darks. Alas, he lost his white team signing bonus.

TWO-POINT PARADE: We had about 10 guys take a shot at QBing the 2-point conversion. The most effective was David, who completed both of his and has an awesome QB rating.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!

(Note: Outsports co-founders Jim Buzinski and Cyd Zeigler Jr. play in this group.)
