We know there are plenty of guys out there playing flag football. Right now, we know only of four gay teams playing. If you would like yourself listed as a local contact for gay flag football, or you're playing on a team, please e-mail us and give us the pertinent info.

The Report From L.A.

Feb. 16, 2002

WEATHER: Partly cloudy, cool, mid-60s. Great football weather.

TURNOUT: We had a decent turnout, wound up playing for 3 hours in a barn-burner.

WELCOME: A big welcome to Tony and Angelo. Tony had never played football before but acquitted himself well with a couple of nice catches and even a pass completion. Angelo showed some nice speed and hands, especially on one long TD catch.

HIGHLIGHTS:

CATCH OF THE DAY: A very nice one by Kevin, who bailed his QB out on a low throw by scooping it off the ground.

OTHER CATCHES OF NOTE: David Bond had a nice catch, then turned on the speed and outraced the secondary for a touchdown; Octavio seemed to come out of nowhere across the field to snag one he took for a score.

A PSYCHIC CONNECTION: Kevin was totally in rhythm with Cyd and Bryan his two QBs. It seemed that every time they need a completion Kevin obliged by getting open.

JP BREAKS OUT: The thing about JP is that he'll be silent most of the game then break out. Since I'll never forgive him for calling me Elvis Grbac I made a point of ignoring him (kidding!). But when Brandon came in to QB things took a turn. One a halfback pass, Brandon threw a beautiful 40-yard strike that JP snagged. Then on a play reminiscent of Montana to Clark, JP pulled the all out of the air on a slant and went for a score.

SAY WHAT?: On one play Jim wound up blocking Albert by sticking his butt out and stopping him cold. ``I got lost in the black hole,'' Albert said.

BALL HAWK: There were only two picks the whole game and both came by Octavio, who was great on both offense and defense.

(Note: Outsports co-founders Jim Buzinski and Cyd Zeigler Jr. play in this group.)
