First of all, I'd like to dedicate this post to two Outsporters who have disappeared from view in recent times, Adam and Seph. They're both so smart and witty and great sports fans and they're really an inspiration for me whenever I write. If you two should ever read this, you guys rock!
We aren't going to see any more of these dedications, I hope? Though I can't imagine what horrific filmed pieces will replace them next week.
Here are a couple more rules I would really love:
1) No one gets to sing "Feeling Good" the rest of the season, whether the Nina Simone version or the Michael Buble version or any other version that exists. (Has Diddy covered it yet? Jay-Z?) From the initial auditions up to this week, I've heard it enough. 2) In fact, there should be no more than one song per artist performed by the contestants on each show. Except for Celine Dion. No one alive or dead, in this or any other universe, should ever EVER sing any of her songs ever again, under penalty of torture. I guess this will be a problem when they have their guests like Diana Ross, but for that show the rule would be that no song can be sung twice. If two or more people want to sing, they can arm-wrestle for first choice. Or if it's two guys, mud-wrestle. 3) The judges shouldn't comment on the women's outfits without giving equal criticism to the men. Can they be any more sexist?
Oooh...tomorrow we lose 4 more of these already-has-beens. Woo-hoo!

If AJ and Lesley (sp?) go home tomorrow, they will both have to sing the same exit song ... has that ever happened before? I've seen two people do the same number, but I don't think I've seen them both voted off the next elimination day. AJ was waaaay better than Lesley, so I hope for his sake that he doesn't get voted off while she stays with an inferior version of the same song.

The highlight on women's night is always watching AJ in the audience. I love him. He roots for everyone and is obviously enjoying the experience.
Now to the performances. I liked Melinda, Jordin and LeKeisha the best tonight. No one else wowed me. That last woman with the big nose was fairly good I thought. Haley's boyfriend is hot, but her singing is not. I continue to like that quirky Leslie Hunt... she looks like Kathie Lee Gifford and sings with an unbelievably deep voice. She's different and I think that's her appeal (though I seriously doubt she will even make it past this week).
Antonella knows how to dress and she looks hot, but do straight guys even watch Idol, let alone vote? I don't think so. Her voice is terrible. Stephanie Edwards looks great but I don't find her appealing at all, and the voice is nowhere near what the judges are giving her credit for.
Idol is off to a rather bland beginning this season.
And it is truly amazing how far Jennifer Hudson has worked herself into the nation's consciousness. She is mentioned everywhere! I think if LeKeisha makes it to the finals, she owes a debt of gratitude to J-Hud for paving the way. It almost feels as though people want to right the wrong that happened to J-Hud by heaping praise on LeKeisha. She's good yes, but she's nowhere near a J-Hud type talent.

Hi Kids,
It’s Wednesday night and you know what time it is. Yep, rotate the underwear day! Woo Hoo! Double your wardrobe, double your fun.
Ryan introduces the ladies. He & the judges say that the guys threw it down last night. Now, I don’t know what show they were watching because I threw up last night. Shameless pimp alert! Shameless pimp alert!
Ok, this report is going to go fast. It snowed today. Traffic was horrible. And I am in a cranky mood. So here is the spit fire Cha Cha Cha report.
It’s dedication night part deux. Frankly, I don’t give a rat’s ass who they dedicate the performance to, so I’ll just declare that they are all dedicating their performance to Rinko Kikuchi. Why? Because I just like saying the name Rinko. Try it. See? It’s a noun, pro-noun and verb all at the same time.
Gina: “Alone”. Scarlet Red Dress. Gina starts off nice & slow. Kicks it in, but when she does she is not in tune. And, I agree with Simon. The dress doesn’t match the performance.
Alaina. “Not Ready To Make Nice”. Hmm my theme song. Intereting that she just lost the votes of the Red states. This is not good. Looks like Alaina is not ready to sing nice either.
Lakisha. “Midnight Train To Georgia”. She looks like a cheap hooker tonight. Her skirt is too short & the shoes are wrong. But the hooker can sang. Not as good as last week, but a solid performance.
Melinda. “My Funny Valentine” She looks fabulous in a dark suit. Smokey, jazzy and cool. This is a nice arrangement. Take Ernestine Anderson, mix in some Abbey Lincoln and shake it up with some Dame Shirley Bassey. This was Excellent. Best performance this season.
Antoiletta. Celine. “Because You Love Me”. ‘nuff said. Tramp got enough publicity this week so I’m not giving her anymore.
Jordin. “Reflections”. She looks good. She has a powerful voice. Jordin is a little off pitch in places, but overall it was good. The song is clichéd but she sang it well.
Stephanie. “Dangerously in Love”. She is gor-ge-ous. Beautiful dress. Like Jordin, she has some pitch problems, but it was a good performance. Stephanie is better than almost all the guys and girls.
Leslie. “Feelin’ Good”. Who is she? Did she perform last week? Oh,right, this is Holly Hunter. It doesn’t help that she picked a song that someone performed the night before. Well that’s a first. Who would have thought that an AI contestant would sing a song in Baby talk. Usually, they act like babies not sing like one. Yeah, that was scat all right. A big stinkin’ pile of scat. And you duped it right on stage. Thanks a lot, no name. Go Rinko yourself.
Haley. “Queen of the Night”. Who put Rachel Ray on tv? I don’t remember her last week. Was this Disney girl? I won’t remember her after that performance either. The background singers were far superior to Belle. And biotch, I am the Queen of the Night.
Sabrina. “All the Man that I Need”. What a schnozz! Sabrina is borderline shouting, but it was pretty good. I think I liked her better last week. But she should advance.
Overall, the women are still better than the men although I would be hard pressed to choose the 12 best.
Cha Cha Cha Melinda Rinko Kikuchi
Two Cha Cha’s Lakisha Stephanie Sabrina Jordin
Worth an extra Cha Cha Gina
Do I have to give them a Cha Cha? Leslie Haley Alaina Antoiletta
I wish those 4 would go home but I’ll go with Alaina & Leslie. Antoiletta should go, but she will get the VFTW votes so I’m expecting her to advance .

I said I was indifferent as to which white girl went home? OMG, I'm getting a Cingular package with unlimited texting so I can do some power-voting for Haley. Don't particularly care for her as a singer, but OMG, her fiance is hotter-than-a-solar-flare H*O*T!! I always feel bad for the friends/family in the audience after Simon thrashes a singer. No matter how bad the performance, you know it's like a knife in the heart to the loved ones. And when the guy is as mo-fo cute as Bobby (yes, stalkerboy here remembered his name), my heart sank. OK, on to the girls:
GINA: Good voice, big, but not great by any stretch. Totally forgettable performance. ALAINA: Just not a good performance. I think she's one of those AI aspirants who needs to hear, "Sorry, darling, but this isn't the career for you" so that she can move on to something she's better suited to. LAKISHA: This song has been sung too many times before, and she didn't really bring anything new or fresh to it because that's an impossible task. That said, I absolutely love this girl. Melinda is the best singer, but Lakisha is my favorite. I do worry, though, what she'll do when she's run out of make-'em-jump-to-their-feet stand-by's like "I'm Telling You" and "Midnight Train." By the way, what's up with Simon dispensing all the fashion advice?? MELINDA: Vocally, she is the class of the field. She sounded like a total pro (which she basically is, just one that doesn't make much money) whereas the other 19 left sound like good (or not) amateurs. This performance was in a completely different class. ANTONELLA: IMO, there is one incontrovertible axiom of human social dynamics - "Dios los cria y se juntan" (birds of a feather ... ). When Antonella's best friend Amanda came off as so damn bitchy and snotty, I thought that maybe Amanda was nicer than she came off because Antonella seemed genuinely sweet. Nope, Amanda is a total snotty bitch, and Antonella is most likely another pea in that pod. That Jennifer Hudson comment (sweetie, you're no Jennifer Hudson) plus all the eye-rolling and pouty faces really turned me off. That said, her brother is f*ckin' beautiful, and I'm ready to buy a second Cingular unlimited texting package just so she lasts long enough for her hottie bro to show up in the audience. Here's an idea: Vincenzo dukes it out in a UFC fight against Haley's fiance for the sixth spot in the finals - WOOF! Oh, by the way, tonight's performance? She sucked. JORDIN: sweet girl, genuine sentiment, but this was perhaps the strongest argument for never having another dedication night again. But knowing Idol, they'll probably make it a permanent fixture. Didnt like the song she picked, thought she struggled a bit with it, but she should be safe to next week, and deservedly so. STEPHANIE: this girl really does have star quality. No, I wasn't crazy about the song choice, but I really like her. And her dress was totally amazing. Either she paid a fortune for it, or she had a spontaneous O in the vintage clothing store upon spotting it. LESLIE: OK, now I finally see what the judges saw in her. That's not to say I loved this performance, but I can see she has talent. Just not enough to last much longer in this competition. HALEY: totally delicious fiance (did you notice the ROCKIN' bod on this guy?) aside, I hated this performance. It was so "fake fun" it made me want to puke. It reminded me of those pep rallies in high school when the football team was sucking ass, didn't have a chance against this week's opponent, but you all filled the auditorium and went through the motions anyway. This girl was faking the fun big time. SABRINA: another yucky song choice, but I do like her. She's my #4 favorite after Lakisha, Melinda, and Stephanie. Wow, deep field for the girls this season.
Who will go? Snottiness, bitchiness, not to mention suckiness aside, I doubt Antonella will go because enough teenage boys (yes, straight boys do watch Idol, although none will admit it under pain of death) will see those really HOT pix and powervote like the little horned-up demons they are. I'm guessing Gina (forgettable performance + 1st spot amongst 10 contestants = kiss of death) and Alaina. Leslie should breathe a gigantic sigh of relief, and Antonella needs to scour her closets for more racy pix to leak onto the Internet.

No one, ever, even if Idol stays on tha air for 50 years will EVER sing Alone as fantastic as Miss Carrie Underwood. That was truly one of the best performances in the show's history.

except for the original performer Ann Wilson from "Heart" I don't usually watch this show but I did catch that young lady's performance and she did do a pretty good job.

People like you are responsible for everything that's wrong with the music industry today! It has nothing to do with record label mismanagement or price-gouging CD and concert prices or illegal digital downloading or corporations buying up radio stations and turning their formats into watered-down pap! It's because you are supporting hideous no-talents because they have hot guys in their entourages!!!
I have a question: why is it that the phones are open for "at least" two hours? It seems to me that if there's not a set time, that leaves more room for hanky-panky.

Oooh yes. I'm glad someone else finally caught on to that "at least 2 hours" thing. I noticed they only started saying that last season. Before, it was always a set time frame but now they're using "at least." Maybe it means it'll be 2 hours, unless they don't like the results, upon which time they will keep a few lines open for power dialers from Fox to skew the results. I wouldn't be surprised a bit.

Eddie!! I am one of the biggest HEART fans as well- I just love the voices of both sisters and love even when they do acoustic versions of their songs.... I wish Ann and Nancy Wilson would have been guest judges by now.... they have plenty of songs that would benefit the men and the women.
My other picks for guest judges would be Stevie Nicks or Lindsay Buckingham where they would use the Fleetwood Mac Rumours CD for a source of songs or the Stevie Nicks soundbook- now that would be pretty good!!!
Anyways- I decided that I have to sort of like Melinda Doolittle LOL She had one of the best ever Idol performances last night....
I remember two things from Carrie Underwood's performance of Alone- the vocals were incredible and it looked like someone used an explosion to create her hair from that performance. She looked ridiculous.

If there is any justice the second guy will be Sanjaya. But yes, I feel as though it may be Brandon as well. He was boring and forgettable. Sanjaya allegedly has a huge fan base that are voting for him based on, dare I say, looks? I guess the girls love that Farrah Fawcett hair he's got and give him snaps for volume and shine. I will say though that his highlights are nice BUT ITS A F*CKING SINGING COMPETITION!!!!
What a f**king robbery. This show is ridiculous!! AJ goes home but Sanjaya gets to stay? What a joke!!!!!

I had A.J. as one of my dudes in my Tuesday post, because America does have this issue with short idols.
Goodbye A.J.

As much as people hate Sanjaya, he does have tremendous vocal ability. He is not going anywhere soon.

I'm so glad the judges commented and basically said that America got it wrong tonight. Its a singing competition and the voting did not reflect it. Sanjaya got negative critiques by all of the judges. And personally...I think my dog's ass sounds better when it has diahrrea than Sanjaya.
omg....if Jordin had been voted off I would have thrown a FIT!!!!!!!!!!!!
But how Sanjaya and Antonella are still in this competition is disgusting

It's because Sanjaya has tremendous vocal ability, but the song choices have been rotten.
I will bet that with his new life, he will tear it up next week. He just needs a good popular song that everyone can get into.
And I think Antonella is still around because she is controversial. The producers probably finagled the votes to keep her on so she can read Simon some more. The fued between the two is taking on a life of its own.

Terp- I don't understand what your big deal with a guy singing "Fever" is- considering it is often men who get hot and bothered moreso and the song is about getting hot and bothered and simmering- I actually believe the song completely suits a male vocalist- I completely love Michael Buble's version of the song... its simply a sexy song no matter who sings it.... and I was going to be with you had it been Jordin leaving over Leslie as well.... although I thought Leslie deserved another week over Antonella Cum-een-me, I would have been PISSED if Jordin left
Regarding tonights dismissals- 3 of the 4 were jazz standards which is quite reflective.... and the other is country... looks like people want either 1) great singers which is awesome or 2) pretty teens they can relate to.
Sanjaya has had two of the worst performances ever on the show and he almost looks more scared that he has to sing again than relieved to have survived. Unfortunately, he is going to make the Top 12 unless Idol producers take it into their own hands- I think they need to have someone say- U know what, I sucked- and that person deserves to continue.
Poor A.J.- he is one of my favorite male vocalists.... his dismissal hurts me as much as when Judd was eliminated in a similar round two seasons ago when he sang Playing in a Traveling Band and actually sang it quite well and also from last season when Patrick Hall was eliminated despite being the best pure vocalist in the competition.
I vote for the judges to be able to select "saves" each week to keep good contestants around... UGH!!!
Unfortunately, this means that we will end up with a weaker and much less interesting Top 12 when we could have had all exciting and decent performers.... I just don't want to sit through more Johnny Red (forgot his last name), Kevin Covais, etc. in the Top 12... it just brings down the quality of the show.
Regarding someone who says Sunjaya has an amazingly incredible voice- he may perform some songs very well, but he has a very limited repetoire which is showing. His vocal talents are less than what he has shown obviously and he simply has not proven he is 1) ready or 2) deserves to be there any longer. By these performances he has pretty much ruined any chance of getting a recording career. Who is going to sign someone who pretty much has shownthat in public they don't have the chops?

Wow...total crap. Okay, Alaina was pretty much a sure thing to leave...and even Nick wasn't THAT big a surprise...but to keep Sanjaya and Antonella over the other two that left? Complete BS.
I never liked this part of the show. If the producers really wanted the best singers to advance, they'd let the judges score the performances and determine who leaves until the final 2, and then let America vote for the winner.
