I'm starting to get a little frustrated with my Edmonton Oilers. As always, expectations were high in the off season but even moreso with the addition of Chris Pronger and Michael Peca. But while everyone was celebrating the signings I kept telling people, "WE STILL NEED A NUMBER ONE CENTRE". That's our biggest weakness right now and I feel that once we get one, we can make a nice run in the playoffs.

I'm happy to see our goaltending situation is working out...still no solid number one but everyone is working hard and playing well so I'm happy.

They've got a tough division to play in but they're right in the hunt. I've only seen a little bit of them but I wasn't unimpressed.

I would agree with Joe here. They are in one hell of a tough division, but they are only 4 points out of first as I type this, so they are definitely in the hunt. biggrin.gif

Understandably I'm not an Oilers' fan, but have to give your guys credit for their last two wins over Calgary (Mon, 5-4) and Vancouver (Wed, 7-6). The Canucks, in fact, have quite a poor record against opponents in the Northwest division this year (although much better against other teams in the western conference).

BTW, that third jersey of the Oilers (which they were wearing on Monday night) is awful! Looks like an eyeball floating in the beak of some prehistoric bird. I'll take the customary logo any day.

The Oilers third jersey is one of the best in the league not only because of its futuristic design but because of how the logo represents the heritage and history of the club.

From a distance the logo looks like a futuristic Oil Drop. The five rivets represent the five Stanley Cups that we have won. The ten gear teeth is the ten Captains we have had. And the three streaks represent three decades of excellence.

As for the Oilers...man they're really clicking lately as they're basically scoring by committee! We still need a starting goaltender but I figure that'll be taken care of towards the trade deadline. We seriously own the Canucks this year...it's awesome!

The third jersey was designed by Spawn creator (and part owner of the Oilers) Todd McFarlane.

Well, Buffalo has a plethora of starting goaltending....Biron, Miller, Noronen......cc this notice to Vancouver as well.

It still looks bad. Any design that needs that much explanation usually does.
wink
