ohmy.gif Wow, I'm shocked anything was ever that affordable around here. You can't even get rundown Campus Property Management places for that anymore. The cheapest I've ever seen was a 3 bdr for $265 a roommate. My rent has gone up $15/person every year I've lived in this apartment (this is the third year).

In which property do you live? When I lived at 609 W. Main in Urbana, it was (and still is) managed by Barr Real Estate. They own a LOT of property in the Chambana area.

I have a friend who is planning on moving to Boston next spring.I was shocked when he told me the cost of rentals that he's looking at! Thank goodness his new position will include a large salary upgrade.

Well, this is probably pointless as MIB is gone now, but Barr still owns a lot of property around here, maybe even more than when he went here. That's not who I live with though.

But I would like my landlord to stand in front of the firing squad. He told the electric company he was overbilled for power for 4 days and wanted them to charge it to my account. The cost of those 4 days? $80. a******. mad.gif

Okay

2 different people to be shot.

First, the BITCH that rear ended me last night. Her excuse to the cop, (who was drop dead f**king gorgeoushotsexycreammyjeans) was that she was sending an important email on her crackberry, and didn't notice that I had slammed on my brakes.
She then told the cop that she shouldn't be held at fault, because I shouldnt have stopped so fast.
I got a bit angry, and said "excuse me bitch. I stopped because the whole f**king highway stopped. If you watched where you were going, this wouldn't have happened".

She was flirting shamelessly with the cop, and he didn't react at all. Wayne said afterwards that he had a small rainbow pin on his lapel. Wish I had seen it, cuz I would have been flirting.

Her car wasn't driveable, (shitty old Neon). I have a bit of damage to the rear bumper guard, but the dealership this morning said it;s to the rubber covering only, so not to bother. My trailer hitch sticks out the back of the truck about 8", and went right through her radiator. (YES !!!!!).

Second person to be shot was the lady that car pools with us. She gets a free ride to and from work every day, and has for almost 2 years. Her reaction was to say to me, "grant, if I can't work, I might have to ask you for salary". At that point I had an ugly on, and looked at her and said, "you have sick days at work, and can take them. And as of next Monday, you can take another car". (I think I also called her the "C" word".
Mixie
God love ya Lksimcoe. There's usually bound to be something in your posts that just crack me up, and your comment in brackets at the end did it for me this time.

Edited to add:

I don't understand though. Was she saying that if she stops working, she would need to ask you for your salary??? If so, what the ...!!!!

Should I have been more pissed over this...

Saturday evening I'm on the way home when I stopped at the grocery store to pick up some stuff--I was scheduled to make what I call "Randy's rectal ripping chili" Sunday. tongue.gif

I stopped by a newly-remodeled Dominick's Food Store--quite nice-looking. I get my items and proceed to the Express Lane, where a huge--at least 4' x 6'--sign hung above saying "15 item limit." I look up and see, I kid you not, a couple with TWO FULL CARTS! On top of the food belt they already had a ton of stuff. The total of their bill--and I am not exaggerating, guys--was $646!!! It took them so long to have their stuff bagged by two people that the cashier rang me up, bagged my stuff, and I was walking toward the exit while this dumbass couple was still having their stuff bagged!

Needless to say I wasn't too happy to get stuck behind these idiots. The other regular lanes were all jammed with people, so I figured I couldn't go wrong with my dozen or so items in the Express Lane. When I walked up, the guy looks at me and sheepishly says, "We screwed up. We didn't know this was the Express Lane." I commented, "I see reading and math weren't your strong suits in school."

Thankfully the guy didn't pick a fight over that comment, but I didn't feel out of line. I challenge anyone here to tell me they were behind some dumbass doofusses in an Express Lane where the dumbasses had two full carts and rang up $646 in groceries.

Oh, I should add that the dumbass bitch paid for everything with a check and wrote the amount to get cash back. How antiquated! Doesn't she believe in using a debit card in such a situation? Or how about a credit card? BTW, because the amount was so high, they had to get approval, further delaying everyone.

Nothing like waiting so damn long in an Express Lane when one should be sailing through those. I don't know of anyone else who runs into delays for nothing like me. Case in point: stoplights. No one on this planet gets stopped by red lights as much as I do. If you're in a hurry to get somewhere, don't have me in your car or you'll hit every frickin' red light in existence!
UCLAfan
Umpire, you're right! mad.gif The morons, nimrods, and dimwits who cannot read "15 items or less" while riding up to the express lane should be shot. I usually avoid the long lines by going to the small market around the corner from me. Sure, they have a smaller selection than the supermarkets, but if I can avoid the morons (who nearly always seem to crop up when I go to the supermarket), then it's worth the price.

Let's line up those morons who can't seem to comprehend "15 items or less" in front of a firing squad, while I simply say, "Fire!" biggrin.gif
millerbeach
Why do the cashiers allow stunts like that? I've seen where the cashier points out to the customer that this is a 15 items or less line, and kick the perp out of the line, to the cheers of other customers who really do have 15 items or less. I blame the inept management more than I blame the idiot customer. By the way, folks usually write checks for cash back when their debit card won't work...because...you guessed it...their ass is flat-broke and they are hoping to float the check a few days.
Crew Chief
I'll give them something to float!

This store was just remodeled, so even the "15 item limit" sign was new, but it was several times larger and more prominent than the one it replaced.

I don't doubt that the sole reason this couple chose this lane was because the other ones had a number of people in them, and they figured they'd march right up to the vacant express lane.

Idiots.

OK, I didn't think I would be adding someone to this list, but here I am. My B/f was rear-ended yesterday by a 16-year old girl who was too busy texting to worry about actually driving. She had the temerity to claim that she shouldn't be held at fault because my B/f braked too fast. Unbelievable! blink.gif

The best part of this was that she was crying to a female officer who, by what the B/f said, wasn't buying the phony crying act at all. tongue.gif

So, I present her to the firing squad. Try not to off her, please. Just aim to where her kneecaps come off and she can't pose a serious threat to another driver or (God help us all) a pedestrian who walks out in front of her car.

Yes, I just read your story. That's pretty amazing! Bad drivers on their technological devices. Who knew there was such a rash of that happening? I hadn't thought about it because I'm usually pretty careful when I do text messaging, meaning that I would never do that on the freeway or on a busy street. Now that this has happened, I feel that I shouldn't text message at all now. Reluctantly, my view is aligning with those who say that cell phones on drivers should be banned.

Call me old fashioned, but if a person absolutely has to talk on the phone, or send that ever important text msg or email, then it's quite simple.

PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE DAMN ROAD.

If you're on a road where you can't pull over, either exit at the next exit, or wait a couple of minutes until you can pull over. If it's that important, they'll call back.

I am so BLOODY sick and tired of navigating around cars that are either weaving back and forth because they're dialing (or typing), or they're going 50km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone, or they come up so close that you can't see their headlights (at 100km/hr) and then realize that they have to slam on the brakes.

JEEE - ZUZ H KEEEERIST!!!

And yes, all of the above have happened to me in the past 24 hours.
millerbeach
I've got to agree with Lksimcoe on this one. Who the heck are you calling/texting to that is so damned important that it's worth the risk of crashing your car and killing someone? Is it the drug deal of the century? A hot, hot, hot stock tip? Maybe it's because I remember the time before all these toys were around, but I really do remember a simpler time when folks simply WAITED TO GET HOME before dialing the phone. I just don't get these toys and the self-centeredness that goes along with them. For the love of God, someone could get killed!

OK, I have another cell phone gripe to go along with the accident the B/f was involved in just a couple of days ago. As we were having dinner tonight at a plain-jane restaurant that shall go nameless (rhymes with Lenny's), we noticed something aggravating in the booth behind me. A middle-aged woman, who was obviously waiting for somone, picked up her cell phone to seemingly talk to someone while she waited for her company to join her.

ARGH! mad.gif It was one thing for her to talk on her phone but it was another thing entirely when she raised her voice to compensate for the poor cell quality. Not only did she irritate me, but she was irritating the people behind her as well. Completely clueless, she went on for close to ten minutes before her company arrived at last, someone who appeared to be her sister or close relative.

Finally. We were saved. Or so we thought. Wrong! dry.gif No, she went on for another few more minutes, eliciting an apology from the newly arrived woman to us regarding her companion's loud voice.

Am I wrong in assuming that when someone is in a restaurant, would it not be prudent to hang up the phone in order to not disturb others? Is it rude to continue a cell phone conversation when in the presence of company?

Just from my perspective, I think the lady on the cell be placed before a firing squad. If not for the accident, I doubt that I would have been so annoyed by the rude behavior displayed. However, I am coming close to agreeing with you, NCAAumpire. Why do some people have to be so disturbingly rude with their cell phones? mad.gif

This reminds me of the Sex and the City episode with Samantha who was having a "working lunch" and the waiter came to her and said "i'm sorry we don't allow cell phones in here" and she's like "are you kidding me?" and then she tells the waiter that she understands her cell phone may be annoying to some but "what are you doing about THAT noise?" referring to a bratty kid who was being annoying in a restaurant. Now, when I go into a restaurant I turn my cell phone on vibrate and if I do answer it I speak in a low tone. If I'm having problems hearing I excuse myself from the table and go toward the bathroom or the front of the restaurant. I don't know...people seem to just not have home training and etiquette. Its incredibly annoying for someone to speak in that loud cell phone voice and I can hear the whole conversation, sometimes inappropriate. Its like damn...do we all have to hear what you are talking about? And don't get me started on the fools who are cussin up a storm on the phone and some of my ignorant people who are like "nigga this and nigga that".

Who else should be shot? Those damn parents who let their kids be annoying like the kid in that Sex and the City episode. I am not....child friendly and I agree with Samantha from Sex.... when she said that I am so sick of these people and their children...they are everywhere!!! Thank god the young ones aren't allowed in first class. Cuz the price of flying first class is worth it to me not to have to be in ear shot of some little son of a #$%#$ whose neck I feel like throttling. Its really the parent's neck I should be throttling. And trust me...when I'm in public I speak my mind. I was in a store recently and this kid came up behind me and grabbed the back of my legs. NO PARENT IN SIGHT!!! And I yelled out "Whose child is this?" Some woman was like "oh he's mine" and I was like "Well you better get him" Look...when I was growing up I knew the deal...I have one of those old fashioned black mothers, ok!! All she had to do was cut her eyes at me if I even started to act like I was wandering off and that was it. All it took was a look. If I asked for something and she said no, THAT WAS IT?!! There was no why? Why shouldn't be a part of a child's vocabulary when a parent says no. WHY NOT? BECAUSE I SAID SO!! Parents don't owe children an explanation. Just like Bill Cosby said on an early Cosby show. "I am your father! I brought you into this world and I'll take you out!!!"

I just am sick of the way these kids act in public and its the parent's fault for allowing them to be this way. Its not the kid's fault. Children are arguing with the parents and the parents are arguing back!!! You don't argue with a child like you are their peer. Sometimes I have to bite my tongue so hard it damn near draws blood. I tell you one thing...when I have children oh you best believe I will have my foot in their ass. Call social services if you want...it'll be the last call you make!!
UCLAfan
After a recent experience with screaming children, mdterp, I am in full agreement with you! The B/f and I went to see "The Messengers" and it amazed the bejeebers out of me that there were several children in the theater with minimal parenting at best.

These hoodlums were running up and down the aisles on the other side of the theater and then crying where it was scary. Well, I didn't blame the kids at all. I blamed their moronic parents for inappropriate bringing them to what was tantamount to a horror movie.

Essentially, parents who take their young children to scary movies should be shot. Period. End of story.

Secondly, the producers of "The Messengers" should be shot for creating such a great story and ending it the way they did! mad.gif
Lksimcoe
I have embarassed Wayne a few times because I tend to be direct in restaurants when it comes to kids. Like mdterp, when I was a kid, all I had to do was even think about starting to act up in a store and I got a smack on the butt. I only once continued the whiney, please, please, please routine. I got a bare bottom spanking, in the grocery store, in our small town. The embarrassment alone was enough to ensure I never did it again.

When it comes to kids in a restaurant, or in a store, I have no tolerance. Wayne says I should make allowances because they're just kids.

HORSEHOCKEY!!!!!

When I am in a restaurant, (and I do not go near any restaurant aimed at kids) I expect a nice atmosphere. Having a child at the next table have a temper tantrum, and the parents ignore it, is not acceptable. The last time it happened, I had to comment twice. The first time I was polite, and asked the parents if they could please get their child to quiet down a bit, as it was disturbing us. All I got was a dirty look, and they then proceeded to ignore me, and their screaming kid, (who was about 5-6 and should have known better). The second time, I stood up, and yelled in their direction, "does that f**king thing have an off switch".

They left the restaurant. And the waiter gave me a free beer.

If parents cannot set reasonable rules of behaviour for their children in public, then the parents should not take their kids out.

It's not a throwback to the dark ages, it's called common courtesy.

So there.

my vote for people who should be shot are those who start beeping their horns as soon as the light turns green

I was on my way to a meeting last Monday and I was sitting a red light and I looked down for a second and when I looked up, the light was green and the old woman behind was honking her horn. I flipped her off

It wasn't like I was just sitting there-and I saw the same thing happen the day before. Are these people in such a damn hurry that they can't wait like three seconds?
UCLAfan
Sorry to disagree with you, theodoresdaddy, but I say that people who do everything EXCEPT drive their car should be shot, especially the ones who hold up traffic to search for the cell phone or whatever at green lights.

I had a woman who had dropped, what looked like her cell phone, stall out and take a good 30 seconds at a green light searching for it, instead of driving on at an intersection. She waited long enough that it turned from green back to red in the span of her travails. mad.gif

I would've passed her uncaring a** but everyone else had gotten the clue and was passing by too fast around her unsympathetic butt. Death to drivers who don't pay attention to the road!
theodoresdaddy

Sorry but I shouldn't have to slow down to a complete stop for something that was completely ridiculous.

You, however, may want to pay attention to driving and not be a distracted driver, as this woman in front of me apparently was. Eyes on the road, please. AAA warns against distracted driving, even in your case, theodoresdaddy.

Oh my god. I was just about to post a whole post on just that one topic of the 2 ignorant ass****s teachin the 2 and 5 year old to smoke the pot. Those little boys did it better than I did when I smoked it in college. How disgraceful. They need to be shot now and shot in the next life. The thing is...can you just imagine what other things go on that don't get caught.

Oh here's another "people who should be shot" parent:

NEW CARROLLTON, Md. -- A mother of five young children is facing neglect charges after she left them alone in a basement apartment covered with urine and animal feces, according to New Carrollton police.

Amara Eden, 31, left the children, who range in age from 6 months to 6 years old, alone Saturday night while she went to work, police said. Officers were called to the house around 12:30 a.m. Sunday for a report from the landlord of burning food.

The children had only one bed and a dog was tied up in the living room, police said.

"The smell was so bad coming from the house that when they went in, they couldn't believe it," said New Carrollton Police Chief David Rice. "When I walked in, I was just so, so heartbroken to see that the kids were living under those conditions. They had a dog that was sleeping in its own urine and feces."

Police called Eden at work, asking her to come home, where she was arrested.

"Her only remark was 'Can I have a second chance?"' Rice said. "Of course my officers' response was, 'You had five."'

The children were taken into custody and were placed in two foster homes.

Eden was charged with five misdemeanor counts of leaving a child alone and two counts of animal cruelty. The charges could be upgraded to felonies, police said.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If I was the police officer making the arrest I would've cracked that bitch's SKULL and said that heifer tried to resist arrest and got injured trying to be restrained. This is what makes me believe that some people simply have no conscience and can do things that are unspeakable. There is no way in my right mind that I would be able to leave someone I supposedly am supposed to love in that kind of environment. Now she's 31 and has 5 kids ranging from 6 months to 6 years. So basically she's been poppin out a kid every year for the past 5-6 years. And how much you wanna bet she's gettin some kind of "assistance" with my tax money. I know it will never happen and its very controversial but when I hear stuff like this I am all for the whole tying someone's tubes. See this is the kind of stuff that I'm conservative on. I'm liberal about a lot of issues but I'm also conservative about a lot of other issues. This is ridiculous!

Yeah, I was highly pissed off when I read that. And they are trying to throw the book at the teller, and give the two "barbie bandits" a lesser charge of theft. I love the justice system when it comes to cute, innocent young women. The damsel in distress mentality is great!

What is the teller supposed to have done that is warrantable?

If I have to hear one more person asking me why I am single during Valentine's, I'm going to punch them.

I'm actually, for the first time in many years, I am happy that I'm a single gay guy. I love it!

This freaking town is SO couples oriented, it ticks me off! mad.gif

Not sure what town you are in but MOST of middle America seems to be that way. sad.gif

The city I live in, their entire parking enforcement department and anyone who has ever been a parking enforcement officer. We had a blizzard here last week and my car has been buried ever since. Today I discovered two parking tickets for violating the city's 72-hour parking rule. I lost a layer of rubber on my tires trying to get out of the spot today and barely made it out. I'm not paying $40 on top of my parking permit because they plowed over my car!

Any reason why you didn't move it the day it snowed so the plows could do their job?? unsure.gif Just wondering.

If parents cannot set reasonable rules of behaviour for their children in public, then the parents should not take their kids out. It's not a throwback to the dark ages, it's called common courtesy.

As a single parent who raised 2 kids I agree - And start doing it EARLY!
