WSU Cougars

It should be interesting to see what if any jump they get in the polls from that manhandling of the Dawgs! smile.gif They sure deserve to in my opinion. That was TOTAL domination from start to finish.

It was total domination. I know people are wanting to see Romar fired. It's just so ironic that Gonzaga and UW are down this season and WSU is up this season. I wouldn't have predicted that to start the season.

The Ducks are in a killer stretch of their schedule. Their next 4 games are on the road. at UW, at WSU, at USC & at UCLA. Even though the Huskies are tanking, they are still dangerous...and they get Spencer Hawes back this week. Aaron Brooks will not be able to step foot in BOA arena due to his one game suspension from last year's Pac-10 tourney. The two teams do not like each other and there is a lot of bad blood between the two schools. Frosh Tajuan Porter will have to be on his game as the lone point guard. They do have former Xavier player Churchill Odia to play the 2 guard but they are going to miss the points and leadership of Brooks.

Withhout Brooks, Bryce Taylor, Malik Hairston & Maarty Leunen better be sharp tomorrow night. The thing about the Ducks is, they are all shooters and any one of the starters can hit the three so it's tough to defend them. If you give any of them an open shot, they will shoot the 3. Porter will shoot the three from anywhere on the court. The Huskies will pose a match-up problem, sort of like Stanford was a problem, because the Ducks are not a big team so they may have some problems matching up with Hawes & Brockman of the Huskies.

After a trip to Seattle, the Ducks travel to Pullman. The Cougs play an entirely different style of basketball then the Ducks and I'm looking forward to the game. I'm hoping for at least a 1-1 road trip. Next to the Ducks, I am a Cougar fan. I hope the Coug game is televised on FNW because I want to see more of Coug coach Tony Bennett. I just can't get looks at that guy!

Good luck Husky & Coug fans....here comes the DUCKS!

Great win for the Ducks against a tough Wazzu team after being upset by the Huskies.
NorCalHusker
Great week for the Cardinal. First Brook Lopez gets the first triple double in Stanford history (18 points, 11 rebounds, 12 (yes, TWELVE) blocked shots) as Stanford shuts down the #25 USC Trojans, 65-50. Then despite relatively quiet games from the Lopez twins, Anthony Goods and Lawrence Hill lead Stanford to a 50 point second half against #3 UCLA to compete a comeback from 17 pts down in a 75-68 win. They even managed to sneak in at #23 in the AP poll. biggrin.gif

Now they get the Zags at home on Wednesday then a revenge game at Cal on Saturday.
Mariner Duck Guy
Not a good weekend for the Ducks losing both games ot the El Lay schools. Now that this 4 game road trip is over, they have 5 home games remaining and a trip to the bay area.

Hmmm. Maybe I should make a bet with NorCal when they play the Cardinal!
NCAA Kid
6 Ranked teams in the AP Poll! Amazing

How did your Cougars lose to the Utes?!? But then again #11 Air Force lost to the Utes today too. Apparently Utah can only beat ranked teams.

We were still finding our roles and such. It was an early season game. I'm sure we would beat Utah now.
NCAA Kid
After seeing the Pac-10 lose a few non-conference games, how good is the Pac10 really?
WSU Cougars
We are still the best conference man!
Mariner Duck Guy
Cougs are at their highest ranking ever. Pretty amazing. They better give Bennett a huge raise!
I was very disappointed in the Ducks heartbreaking loss to 'Zona. They needed that home win. Now they have to travel to the bay area. I'm hoping for a sweep.
WSU Cougars
Cougs have a big game vs Oregon on thursday!
WSU Cougars
WSU escapes from Oregon State with 58-54 and UCLA finished undefeated season at home.
DCBucky
So wazzu -- thoughts on Thursday's showdown vs. ucla??
WSU Cougars
I'm not to happy about my Cougars losing to UCLA at home but hopefully we'll beat USC cuz #2 seed in Pac-10 is on the line.
DCBucky
Tony Bennett picks up his first national honor: Coach of the Year award from Basketball Times magazine. Well deserved and no doubt the first of many.
WSU Cougars
I'm very glad TB got the honor. He truely deserved it and we also had to guys on All Pac-10 which was sweet!
TheOtherFSU
I'm watching WSU-UW right now... and I swear there is no hotter coach in the country than Tony Bennett. OMG. I haven't seen him for awhile, but wow. H-O-T.
WSU Cougars
Cougars beat Washington
CAL upsets #1 seed UCLA
USC defeats Stanford in OT
Oregon stomps Arizona
Mariner Duck Guy
Ducks taking no prisoners today. They are putting on a clinic in three point shooting. Up by 37 with 7 minutes to go.

MDG--How about those Pac-10 Champions? I caught the game over here and it was great. I didn't think it would be such a blow out too. Lets just hope they don't choke in the first couple of rounds of the big dance. GO DUCKS!
WSU Cougars
I was sad for my Cougs vs USC but oh well.
WSU Cougars
Pac-10 is 4-2 right now which isn't too bad. Keep up the good work Oregon, UCLA, WSU, and USC.
WSU Cougars
My Cougs are done but we had a great season!! =)

Hey Wazzu kid,

Was rooting for WSU yesterday - the only guy I know in SF home on a Saturday afternoon watching college basketball. It's a rough life here.... Anyway, great game Coug guy.

Pac-10 has 3 in the sweet 16 (although, 2 of them are south of the border.... smile).

Hey rob,

Congrats on your Ducks! Left coast basketball is representing this year- USC, UCLA, Oregon, and UNLV.
WSU Cougars
Thanks man! It was a great year and I'm excited for next season as well. GO COUGS!
WSU Cougars
Big games involving Zona/UCLA and WSU/Stanford this weekend. GO COUGS!
hockeyTom
I must say I was stunned when I heard the Cougs lost 2 straight now....need to get back on track somehow...
WSU Cougars
UCLA flexed its muscles once again. I thought Stanford would prevail in the 3rd meeting. I think UCLA will be cutting down the nets in San Antonio.
WSU Cougars
WSU, Stanford, and UCLA are left. GO PAC-10!
hockeyTom
Can't wait for the NC/Wash. State game this afternoon. Go Cougs!!!!!!

Ugly game for Cougars at 8 min mark of 1st half and after...but before that we gave ourselves a chance to win. When we started turning the ball over and couldn't make shots..we lost the game. =(

Still a great season..so can't get too down I guess.
hockeyTom
The Cougs were just not able to get much offense going, and unfortunately it did them in. Great run though. I don't see any reason why they can't have another great season next year. If anything this will really help put Wash. State on the prospectives map, much like Gonzaga has been able to do over the past 10 years.
WSU Cougars
I hope so. We have 5 quality kids coming in next season and Fabian Boeke will be able to play.
