Ok...so I'm taking my boyfriend to gay ski week in Aspen for an early Valentine's Day gift. We both love to ski and have been skiing in Aspen before. But, neither of us has ever been to gay ski week. Has anyone ever been or knows someone who has been and can give some info on what to expect? Its the 30th anniversary of gay ski week and apparently this is the year not to miss. The website details the itinerary and I like the 7 deadly sin theme that they have with activities and parties entitled Pride, Envy, Greed, Gluttony, Wrath, Sloth, and Lust. I don't know...I look forward to it but my boyfriend is pretty picky about vacationing. He prefers to go places where there is a good amount of diversity and...well...there's not much whenever I've gone to Aspen although I'm pleased to see its grown a little. I'm not expecting too much however for gay ski week.

There are quite a few trips available at just about that same time.
Iain wanted to go out West, and even though he will miss the first week of his new term, we just booked into the Whistler trip Feb 04, 2007 to Feb 11, 2007 ; which sounds like a blast.
We looked at the options and decided to try one of the gay ski weeks too, but didn't want the total circuit party atmosphere of Aspen or Vail.
There is quite a list of Gay Ski vacations listed at GO.
Have Fun!

OH lord...its circuit-ish? Ungh ungh...ungh ungh...see I ain't got time for that mess. I do not like the circuit type atmosphere so I think I'm gonna have to quickly change this. My boyfriend would sulk and whine the entire time and we would have to go fly after only a couple days, otherwise I will end up throwing him off one of the mountains. Thanks for the link though...I think I'm gonna research that Telluride ski week trip. ::sighs:: I mean I could deal with the circuit thing because I would just avoid it and do my own thing but he's really antisocial when it comes to mingling with other gay men so I really wanted him to feel comfortable doing it. It took him forever to agree to meet my friends.

I've done the Whistler gay ski trip a couple of times, great fun and not too circuitish, plus Whustler is one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Have friends who have done the Telluride week. It is supposedly much quieter then that Aspen weekend. Aspen is a lot like a circuit party. If you are just interested in a good ski week, why not stay in some place like Breck (good night life and food), then you can ski Breck, Keystone, Loveland, Vail, Copper Mountain, Beaver Creek or A-Basin. Gives you a lot more options. Also, check out outboard. I think this year they are doing Steamboat, which is a great mountain with amazing snow.
Am hoping to get up this weekend myself (probably Keystone)...the early season snow has been pretty good so far.
