or whatever the name of them are

My boyfriend sings with a small choir here in SF and they're talking about going to Montreal for the cultural festival.

I'm planning on tagging along as well. I've never been to Montreal so I thought it would be cool.

I am registered for Montreal, but haven't paid yet.....I have to do that in installments..lol

Yes, you lucky ^%&*$ Rick, you can go with Karate, unlike the rest of us Martial artists. Rick, I still ponder signing up for the Kumite only, but it's pretty steep for a possible 2 minutes of competition. I have been emailing Karate re the divisions and whether there will be Creative, but no-one has replied.

that being said, I'm not going to miss it, even if they cut my sport (although I see the Marketting ads still show Kung Fu stylists. And no, no-one bothered to reply to my email about that...)

I might attend some of the Human rights lectures, but in any case, I know I'll be able to amuse myself for a week in Montreal, no problem. Whether they get my registration is entirely up to them, and so far, circumstances are against it.

However, concerning other people: On the weekend, we had "Davie Days," a gay neighbourhood street fair, and the response at the Team Vancouver booth for athletes was very positive for Montreal. Team sports especially. I suppose this is understandable from Canadians.

For what it's worth, our delegate to the GLISA conference came back PUMPED and with lots of good information. Montreal next summer could well be a winner.

Theodoresdaddy:

Montreal itself is an amazing city. It's very accessible for English-speakers, but you understand you really are in another country. A unique and proud and welcoming country. It's SO worth a trip, and the gay themed-event is icing on the cake. Come to Montreal. It's easy and cheap from SF. You won't regret it.

Chuck....LMAO....yes I am able to compete in Karate, but oddly enough, I registered for the Swimming.

I'm booked, paid and training for...
*cross country run
*triathlon
*track and field running events

Excited about seeing Montreal, and thrilled to be in the OutGames, having only "come out" in the last two years.
Never too late,

Booked a hotel for Montreal yesterday. Now just have to decide if I'll stack on some competition in Chicago.

I can't wait to go

They had a booth yesterday at the Folsom Street Fair and I picked up some info

I haven't looked through it yet though.

It is as chuckvanc said. I've been there several times & I absolutely love it. I don't know what your time is going to be like, but 2 things I would highly recommend are:

1. Drive to Quebec City (even if it's just for the day). They call it the mini Paris of the Americas. It's roughly about a 2 hour drive from Montreal if I remember correctly.

2. You must eat at a French [Canadian] restaurant if you like their cuisine. Ask some of the locals or Outsports members about where to eat. Because of the currency exchange it wouldn't be as $$$$ as in the US for an outstanding meal. Many of their restaurants have a prix fix menu so don't forget to ask for one. Finally, always top off your meal w/ a chocolate souffle! Have fun & bon appetit.
