Just like Al(gaddbear) lost his beloved Grace,I had to have my sweet cat Della put to sleep today.Della had bone cancer and it was wreaking havoc on her body.She was 13 years old and the sweetest baby I could have ever been blessed with.This has all been heart-wrenching.At least Grace will have company in Heaven!

sad.gif That's a sad time, when we have to say goodbye to beloved pets. I have had my Joanah for 16 years and she seems fine now, but I know that day will come. the only way I can handle it is to remember the years of joy and comfort she brought to me.

I know how attached I am to my Tigger, and she is to me.....

Heck, I bawled like a baby a couple of weeks back when our neighbor's dog passed.....

Thanks everyone.Yesterday was awful.She was initially going to have an ultrasound to assess just how bad the cancer was.However on Thursday night her hind legs totally stopped working(she had a lesion pressing on her spine).The vet and I both agreed that the ultrasound is too late and that euthanasia was the only answer.I got to hold her as she passed away.My heart has broken.She was the sweetest cat.Thank goodness I still have my other kitty "Peaches" to comfort me.

Hi Eddie, so sorry to hear about your loss. I have two adorable cats myself so I know how you must feel. But the fond memories you have of Della will live on, and I'm glad you still have Peaches.

I got them both at the Michigan Humane Society on 4/20/95,I can tell you there was no question about whether or not her and Peachie were going home with me.
Della started out life in a rough way.I know that I gave her a very good life but it pales in comparison as to what she has given me.I am overwhelmed by the unconditional love I have received from my 2 babies.
I know there are a lot of people out there who don't care for animals and all I can say to them is "it's your loss"

Eddie, sorry to hear of your loss. I'm glad Peaches is there for you, but we both know there is no replacement for Della. Death sucks. I'm just glad Della is in a better place.

Thank you,Steve.I sure do miss that little baby!I don't think Peachie is handling it too well,either.It seems like every time she wakes up from a nap,if she doesn't see me,she starts running around and meowing as if she thinks I left her. sad.gif

Eddie, as a huge animal fan and cat nut myself, consider yourself hugged buddy. I have never heard of bone cancer in an animal..just yet. Cancer yes, but not bone cancer......I am so sorry.....heal quickly buddy.

Thanks Tom.Yes it showed up in the X-ray as a dark spot.The blood test confirmed the vet's suspicions and the rest is history.Hard to believe a whole week has gone by since I had to put Dell to sleep.Me and Peachie are still missing her very much,too!

It was with an extremely heavy heart I had to put my beloved cat Annie down to rest this past Saturday. The past 2 months I had been seeing a major change in behavior from Annie. She had become very lethargic and was not eating or drinking well. Upon taking her to my Vet he said she had one bad tooth, an infection in another and he noticed an ulcer in her mouth, so he pulled both bad teeth and she returned to home, but still just wasn't herself the past 2 weeks and was not eating much or drinking much either. I had noticed a pretty bad limp in her rear leg within about the past 2 months as well.

By Saturday morning she was hardly able to walk at all and was dragging herself around on the floor and crying out for help. I knew I had to do something to took her to a local Emergency pet clinic where the news was not good. The Vet had discovered a lump on her rear leg that he thought was interfering with a nerve which affected her mobility. Internal x-rays showed spots in the organs and the diagnosis was cancer, and the prognosis was not good, so I laid her to rest.

Incidentally she looked alot like the pic of Jims cat in his avatar. I could never in my life had imagined such a loving animal/cat, and my heart is broken. There is a large hole in my soul that is going to take time to fill in.

She will be missed forever and remembered always. Everybody give your beloved pet an extra hug for me today.

My sympathies on your loss. Pets are family, and the grieving process is the same.

My 14 year old labrador retreiver, named Goliath, (he's huge) is slowly reaching the end of
his life. In the past month he has slowed down, and sleeps a lot, and we have had to change him
from a solid senior food to a canned senior food, but even with that, he is reaching the end of his life.
Wayne and I both know that 14 is very old for a lab, and my monster (that's what I call Goliath) has given
us nothing but love for all his years.
When the time comes, we will bury his ashes under an oak tree at the cottage beside his best buddy, our
chocolate lab we lost about 4 years ago.

Sorry Tom and L. That stinks, especially during the holidays. This is my first Christmas without Boots, who was crazy about lying under the Christmas tree...must have been the heat from the lights. It is so hard to lose a loved one...stay strong! smile.gif
