I'm hooked - at least until I get to see an episode or two.
I know now what I'll be watching on DVD the next time the BF is out of town (he hates sci-fi as much as he does sports).
For me this could be a combo of BBM and Heinlein's
Stranger in a Strange Land.
Though I found Townsend's
2069 Trilogy both more prophetic - and in many ways, more philosophically/scientifically sound - than
Stranger, I suspect
2069 will be relegated to the realm of pornography until...at least 2069.
So until there is a soft-core version of that epic,
Torchwood looks like the most interesting thing going.
Then again, who knows. Should it ever become credible in this country for gay people to serve openly in a military capacity, we might be willing to consider the possibility of us also being capable of surviving to see humans undbound by earthly physical bodies as well.
I don't think I'll hold my breath until that happens. Just searched Netflix and confirmed season 1 is available.
