Have you seen the BBC sci fi series 'Torchwood'? It stars John Barrowman and is a spin off of the Doctor Who series. I have seen all the current episodes and it recently debuted on BBC America. John Barrowman is hot and many of the stories are interesting fantasy. CYBERWOMAN is a great episode. Barrowman is Scottish born and allegedly came to the U.S. as a young kid. So his accent would be American. Yet his accent sounds so fake. many Brit actors are not that great in adapting an American sounding accent. Barrowman recently told the BBC that he suffered much predjudice in the U.S. for being uncircumcised and that he was teased in gymn class. If that is true then he went to school with some bastards. Barrowman has a reputation for pulling out his willy and showing it to other castmates. smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif

And he's gay. In fact he's on the cover of the October issue of Out Magazine.

Too bad that this show is not talked about much. Last Sunday, the love interest between Ianto and "The Captain" unfolded (from the last season, there was a surprising kiss--- that baffled many viewers, but last Saturday, they finally revealed that there was really something going on there).

I know this series doesn't get a lot of discussion. But last night's season finale was brilliant. I don't get choked up too often when a character on a series dies, but I was really holding back the tears when two of the Torchwood five died in the line of duty. I truly wish this show got more attention from US viewers, but I think being on BBC America might have something to do with it. Need to write to SciFi to have them pick it up.

A couple of weeks ago one of the characters, Gwen, walked in on Capt. Jack and Ianto while they were "having relations". The scene was hilarious and very well played.

Can't wait until Season 3.

"Torchwood" debuted on the BBC, while I was living in London, and I was glued from the start. John Barrowman is a good actor, and he is a good singer to boot. Check him out in the movie about Cole Porter (I forget the name of it!). I remember him from that god awful night time soap, when he played a JFK, Jr. type character. What makes him even hotter is that he is out and proud. There was an episode in the first season where Captain Jack falls for an WWII era RAF officer. It brought a tear to my eye.

I don't get BBC America, so I'll have to wait for season two to come out on DVD. Can't wait. Maybe SciFi will pick it up. Captain Jack still makes appearances on "Dr. Who."

I'm hooked - at least until I get to see an episode or two.

I know now what I'll be watching on DVD the next time the BF is out of town (he hates sci-fi as much as he does sports).

For me this could be a combo of BBM and Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land.

Though I found Townsend's 2069 Trilogy both more prophetic - and in many ways, more philosophically/scientifically sound - than Stranger, I suspect 2069 will be relegated to the realm of pornography until...at least 2069.

So until there is a soft-core version of that epic, Torchwood looks like the most interesting thing going.

Then again, who knows. Should it ever become credible in this country for gay people to serve openly in a military capacity, we might be willing to consider the possibility of us also being capable of surviving to see humans undbound by earthly physical bodies as well.

I don't think I'll hold my breath until that happens. Just searched Netflix and confirmed season 1 is available.

Defintely checkout the dvd and start from the beginning. The first episode really sets up what Torchwood is. The first season was a lot of fun, but the second season (no date on when it comes out on DVD) really took off for me. Much better use of carrying a few archs over the course of the season.

Plus the British eyecandy is very nice. John Barrowman (Capt. Jack), David Gareth-Lloyd (Ianto) and Kai Owens (Rhys) are all worth the ride. smile.gif

Lol! Let's have a gay-off! Enjoy. laugh.gif

Its a great series, and if you go to You Tube there are a number of clips from seasons 1 & 2, including then one when Jack and Lanto get caught making out.

I can't believe 2 died in the season finale!!! But man---what a show. The penultimate episode gave me an idea the characters background--- and more sad to see the 2 go after learning more about them.
But now, I am now in withdrawal--- need it back soon!!!
perhaps, next season... a gay love triangle??? currently, there are 2 gay characters in the show, and possible James Marsters may come back as a regular cast member next season? They can officially call the show Torchwood Bath House smile.gif

Kevin and I just started watching this show on BBC, we saw most of Season 2.

I agree, last night's episode was amazing. What a shocking end to the season...

And to think the producers of Will & Grace didn't think Barrowman was gay enough to play Will. Maybe he should add that clip to his audition tape.

So glad he didn't get the role of Will! As Capt. Jack he gets more action in a typical 10 episode season than Will got over a seven year run!

What I really like about the show is about a group of people who takes care of the effects of the rift, and they just happen to have a gay leader that has a boyfriend--- it's not how their work is affected because their gay. but Jack's character is very sexual- boy or girl, and the twists--- unexpected. In the first season, on the very first show--- they killed someone off you thought was suppose to stay in the show. And then the season finale on season 1, the infamous kiss with Ianto--- WOW--- didn't see that coming AT ALL...

Did anyone see Torchwood's season 3 last week, "Children of Earth"? It was really well done, tense, exciting, humorous (towards the beginning), and heart-breaking (the last two nights). I'm not going to give anything away for those who have not seen it - I'll leave the spoilers up to someone else tongue.gif - but it comes out today on DVD. I think BBC will probably play it again at some point as well. But if you were a fan of the first two seasons, you will definitely want to check out season three.

We caught all 5 episodes and it was excellent. Thrilling, action packed sci-fi at it's best. If anyone has never seen the show, everything essential to understanding the characters is quickly explained and setup. The action is non-stop. Can't wait for Season 4 as it has been picked up for another season.

I liked TORCHWOOD when I posted this in the past. But I'm not that much of a fan of it now. I like some of the Russell T. Davie's DOCTOR WHO and others I don't care for. David Tennant is leaving as Who in a few weeks to be replaced by Matt Smith. Matt is pretty hot. David is average looking. I'm shocked that he played the young Cassanova a few years ago. A Cassanova he is not.

...and on low heat.

Matt Smith (seen here on the left on stage) should be an interesting replacement.

I found Tennant's Who a bit overwrought and disjointed, not as "human", if you will, as the original. It's good that he has not panicked when asked about gay rumors in the past, but just takes it in stride.

A friend of mine saw David Tennant in a film some years ago. Tennant (real name David McDonald) was showing full frontal nudity. She said that David was just average size. No more than 5 or 5 1/2 inches. Colin Baker who was the 6th Doctor Who is enormously hung- HUGE. I have seen Matt Smith shirtless but don't know about the rest of him. He's cute and has nice reddish hair.

David T is really a Scotsman but talks in an artifical accent for the Doctor. Sometimes he talks in an unconvincing cockney accent. He's a reliable actor but I've seen better. Robson Green or Hans Matheson would make terrific DOCTOR WHO's. But alot of big stars don't want the part. Does anyone remember the DOCTOR WHO producer from the eighties named John Nathan Turner? He was an out man and sadly died in 2002. TOTALLY FLAMING ALMOST A Mr. Humphries from Are You Being Served?

Torchwood: Miracle Day
New series coming to the Starz movie cable channel...

Culled from the website:
Torchwood,” premiering July 8, stars John Barrowman (“Torchwood”, “Desperate Housewives”) as Captain Jack Harkness, Eve Myles (“Torchwood”, “Little Dorrit") as Gwen Cooper, Mekhi Phifer (“ER”, “Lie to Me”) as Rex Matheson and Bill Pullman (While You Were Sleeping, Independence Day) as Oswald Danes.

Starring: John Barrowman, Mekhi Phifer, Eve Myles, Bill Pullman, Lauren Ambrose, Alexa Havins, Arlene Tur, Kai Owen

Who's gonna give it a try?

I would have to order Starz though. Maybe they will rerun them on Encore. They did that with Spartacus...

"Torchwood" is a great spin-off from "Dr. Who." Captain Jack has a new love interest for the new season, played by Dillon Casey.

Dillon Casey: A Day in the Life (Brief nudity at the End, i.e. male butt) wink.gif

Get the other seasons on DVD! I give credit to STARZ. Not afraid to shy away from the lead male character being openly in love with another man. It's not just sex, but a love story. Watch the other seasons with Jack and Ianto!

Rule #1 for all aspiring stars doing a home-made promo vid:

DO NOT have a roommate hotter than you as a f%&kin' co-star!!!

I thought I was gonna faint when Spilchuk's butt under that t-shirt was the last vision on the screen.

Now I can't remember what the rest of the silly thing was about. rolleyes.gif

The preview I saw on the STARZ website looks like the special fx will be amped up but I hope the storylines stay true to the original quality. One of the best scenes from Torchwood was from the Exit Wounds episode. I found it on youtube.

No surprise that Torchwood: Miracle Day will keep the full-on boy boy-sex in the life of Jack Harkness, so I am confused as to why that should require a spoiler alert.

Apparently one "love interest" will be Brad played by Canadian-American actor Dillon Casey.
