Tennessee has played some great basketball thus far and probably will "upset" Memphis in a few weeks. Pleasant surprises have been schools in the same state: Ole Miss and Miss State. Vanderbilt should continue to have a great season and Florida is doing well with "no name" players.
Based upon its very high RPI, Vanderbilt could achieve a four seed if the selection of tournament teams occurred today.
As good as Vanderbilt is this year, they could be even better if the admissions office had allowed J.P. Prince to transfer to Vanderbilt. The admissions office would not make an exception for J.P. to a rule that forbids mid-year transfers. J.P.'s athleticism would be an outstanding addition to the 2007-2008 Vanderbilt team. Vanderbilt needs to finish 3-2 in its remaining conference games and win at least one game in the SEC tournament to stay on pace for a number four seed. If Vanderbilt earns a bye for the first round of the conference tournament and went 1-1 in that tournament, that would put its record at 26-7 to finish the season.
