WSU Cougars
Bennett staying at WSU

I'm so glad Tony Bennett is staying at WSU. GO COUGS!

Indiana is going to have a tough time landing somebody I think. There are going to be NCAA sanctions. Even though IU is one of the premier programs in the country I don't know why anybody with a solid gig at a smaller school/program would want to risk giving up their current job to inherit the problems Sampson has left behind. I bet Dan Haskins could redo his decision to go to Minnesota after the Clem Haskins mess.

Also this will be Indiana's 5th coach since 2000 and they've had 3 university presidents and 3 ADs in that time. Not exactly the model of stability.

Thanks man. You really get it and can see why TB didn't take the job. I've been on ESPN.com, scout.com, and rivals.com boards and people are saying how can TB turn down IU...

WELL...

1) Possible NCAA sanctions
2) Star recruits getting out of their LOIs
3) Rich and powerful boosters looming over the program.

I just now worry about the LSU job because TB's wife is from Baton Rouge.

It's going to be a lot tougher to find a coach now. Bassett and Ellis kicked off team

ESPN is reporting Tom Crean is about to sign as Indiana's coach. Good luck Tom, you're gonna need it.

Maybe we can use thiis thread to talk about all the coaching moves this offseason?

Crean has signed an 8 year deal with Indiana leaving Marquette with a vacancy. Current Chicago Bulls interim coach and Marquette alum Jim Boylan is supposedly being considered.

In other coaching moves, Sean Sutton has resigned from Oklahoma State. There is some speculation that OSU would like to lure Bill Self away from Kansas. I can't see leaving Kansas for Oklahoma State even if Self is an OSU alum.

And Darrin Horn capitalized on his success at Western Kentucky to take the job at South Carolina.

Any other big moves being rumored?

So now that Bill Self and Kansas have won the National Champiuonship, all attention will quickly turn to the Self to Oklahoma State rumors. OSU (backed by T Boone Pickens) is offering a boatload of money to lure Self away from Kansas. I can't see how Self can turn down $10 million guaranteed.

So with Self staying put at Kansas, Oklahoma State has tabbed Travis Ford from UMass as it's next coach. Ford did a nice job with Umass this past season but that was in the A10. Eddie Sutton did great things at OSU but I think it might prove to be a bit tougher for a newbie to step in and get kids to come to Stillwater.
