Ok...so the boyfriend and I went to my best friend's gay wedding/commitment ceremony (whichever one prefers to view it) this weekend and it was the most beautiful wedding I've ever been to. I have been one that has never really thought about getting married or having some kind of ceremony, but my when my best friend and his partner danced the first dance at the reception it was to Jamie Foxx's "When I First Saw You" from the Dreamgirls Soundtrack. Now I'm not one to get emotional much during happy events, but I cried big time! Not just a couple tears either. It was tears and snot and me needing to blow my nose and wipe my eyes....the works baby!! I wasn't the only one either. Even my boyfriend had a tear in his eye and he doesn't cry ever! It was so beautiful. The look that both of them had in their eyes staring at each other was pure love. My boyfriend and I were holding each other's hands and at one point I looked at him and he looked at me and it was just so emotional. Amazing how one moment can totally change your feelings about something. Ever since then I've been daydreaming about a wedding of my own to my boyfriend. I've never done that before. It was just never something that I ever really desired.

What really made the song fitting was that my best friend's partner suffers from depression and was at a very low point in his life when he met my best friend. He credits my best friend with saving his life. He had given up on so much when he was ostracized by his family after telling them he was gay. The two of them have the same PCP and met one day 5 years ago while they were both waiting for appointments. My best friend's family was always very supportive of his sexuality and really gave his partner a new family. The two really do share a beautiful love story.

For those who have never listened to this song, its really beautiful. Here is a youtube of it. Its my favorite from the entire soundtrack. The lyrics are so perfect. I imagine this has been played at many a weddings and been used on Valentine's Day a bit the past couple years.
