Issues that feed homophobia in school sports programs --As a parent the issue is not about someones right to be privately sexually expressive, this is a much more concise issue.
The issue is with schools facilities for accomodation and sports programs inclusion of alternate sexuality without approproate facilities to accomodate not protecting the rights of the heterosexual population.
We do not allow schools to make our children shower with heterosexual men, then why would one not expect parents to be upset when their same daughters were forced to be victims of unwanted homosexual voyerism in the intimacy of showers and locker rooms. No ones rights should overshadow the right of others.

Not sure what if any incident or occurence you are talking about, but good coaches of either sex or sexual orientation know their place is not in the locker room where athletes change and shower. They need to be nearby enough to be aware if things have gotten out of hand, i.e., fighting or destructive behaviors, but that's about it. If you are imagining this happening because a coach is gay then that's just homophobia. If your child and/or her peers bend your ear on this there are two things you should think of: one, if they are disparaging this coach in this way it may be that they don't like her methods or perhaps they or their clique aren't receiving the favored status they would like and vengeance is at play and 2,relatedly, kids can be excellent at judging what an adult might like to hear or be receptive to and will try to use it to their advantage without much sense of conscience. If you're certain these issues aren't in play and you've discussed them with a number of students who have considered them and they still say the coach is trying to look at them, then you should speak to the AD- a word from him/her is likely to scare the *!# out of her and the problem will cease.

Dude, wtf?

Locker rooms are for two things, changing and discussing tactics.

WTF is right. The problem with all this locker room voyeurism talk is that the heterosexuals claiming this is a problem are projecting their behavior on homosexuals. I'm sure many a straight man fantasizes about being a coach of a female team and watching them shower. They then think that a gay man who showers with other guys must get all excited and horny as they would with females. But gay men shower all the time with other men and we quickly learn how to respect the environment. In Germany and Austria showers are often coed so straight men learn early on how to respect women. When I was at a nude lake in Vienna there was absolutely no voyeurism or inappropriate behavior. At nude beaches in this country in contrast, men gather women and play with themselves and try taking pictures. So every time I hear a straight person talk like this I imagine how repressed and horny they must be.

I'm going to coin a word: Showerphobia: A panic reaction experienced by a naïve, uninformed or insecure heterosexual at the thought of sharing a locker room or group shower facility with another person who may be homosexually oriented.

A cure may be initiated by encouraging the heterosexual so afflicted to read and consider the following discussions:

Gays as Lockerroom Predators: A Bogus Issue

"The Loneliest Athletes" - Homophobia in College Athletics

Showers and the Gay Athelete...urinals and the Straight Coworker!

Then go take a shower and stop worrying about what others may be thinking, because chances are very good they're not.
