Phelps loses race and record. Biedermann's suit is to "blame".
Favorite quote: "
I hope there will be a time when I can beat Michael Phelps without these suits," the German added.
"I hope next year. I hope it's really soon."

He sure looked like a sourpuss in his loss too. His coach's comments were a bit ridiculous as well. Phelps has benefited from suit technology. But now that someone has one upped him...its a different story and not fair? No.

Phelps is such a physiological phenom that I don't think anyone could defeat him on a level playing field. But those suits are an abomination, and I don't just mean from an aesthetic point of view.
Imagine if some clever manufacturer comes up with a suit embedded with the equivalent of billions of microscopic biological propellers. What would the competition mean? Whoever could stuff in more propellors or improve them fastest would have a significant advantage.
Don't laugh. Look at bicycle or boating technology and how that has had to be regulated for competitions. This could get way out of hand.
Next we could have a pill that grows gills on humans. No more coming up to breathe.
Ah, the possibilities are endless, and the games would be meaningless.
