Full Version: Company Christmas Parties

I did...last night. The cluster of radio stations in town had a group party, so there were a lot of new faces. I got to meet a sportscaster legend of Chicago, and another sportscaster with eyes that could melt a glacier. Lean, linebacker build, nice smile. Too bad he only wanted to talk about the Bears. I would have much rather talked about what I would do to him with his pants down. I know, easy Simba. Yes, I behaved. One other temptation...some sales rep from one of the stations...drop dead handsome, Armani suit, and killer smile. For his sake, thank goodness I did not have that third glass of wine. laugh.gif

My Company Christmas party will ruin my social life next week! The night of the party is the same night I planned to spend an evening out with a guy I am crazy about. There is no way I can get out of the party due to keeping up appearances, etc...so I will sulk at my party!

The schools I work for generally don't have parties. But they do have some snacks @ our break areas but nothing to brag about frankly.

My bf's law firm on the other hand is having their annual X-Mas bash next Fri. There's lots of cash given out, gifts that can be potentially "won" in a fun game they play, & of course it's open bar with appetizers & a full course meal (French to boot). Oh, it's the place he took me to this year for Valentine's Day. Can't wait actually. smile.gif

Btw forthemasses, I'd show up for an hour (the 1st hour to be exact) then go meet your hot date. I'd be honest & say you have another important gathering to attend to.

I got a frozen turkey.
forthemasses
Ah, I would rather receive a frozen turkey than go to my party.

SCT...Unfortunately, I have to stay more than an hour. I just started in the department so I need to "play the game".

My guy and I will have other nights. I hope...

I don't know what the future holds for us, so I am intense about every moment I can spend with him.

...apologies for totally getting off the topic here.

I would rather not have one because I have a boss who thinks she can treat you like sh*t all year long and act half-way decent once a year. She is the last person I want to celebrate such a special holiday with.

We don't have them either. As the semester winds down, we're all too swamped with grading to attend yet another function. On the other hand, we turn every faculty meeting we can into a potluck. When I interviewed for my position, I was asked whether or not I could cook. The hiring committee wasn't really serious. At least I don't think so.

Forthemasses, of course there will be other nights. If the future holds for you what you want, then there will be by mutual agreement. Enjoy the party, enjoy your guy -- later.

We had ours on Thursday night at the hotel that is next to our office. They were handing out taxi chits, but because I don't drink I didn't take one. I thought, though, that I was being penalized for not drinking because I was going to have to pay for my parking (I had brought my car downtown that morning, and would have to pay day and evening rate), whereas drinkers get to be driven home in a taxi for free.

Oh my... you're looking rather... sparkly. smile.gif So the BF works at a law firm. Glad to see you learned something at USC. laugh.gif Kidding...

We had our Xmas party last night. I work for a very small start-up. I guess it's still a start-up, it's only couple of years old. Anyway, open bar and appetizers, nothing fancy. Unlike some of the over-the-top shindigs I've attended when in corporate world. One year we had 3 drag queens show up after dinner to get people up and dancing and having fun. One was dressed in some drag reindeer outfit, one was dressed as a naughty Mrs. Claus (replete with a red, trimmed with white fur, housecoat--very Brini Maxwell), and the last one dressed as, yes... a Christmas tree. Really. With branches, ornaments and lights that must have been plugged into a battery pack somewhere. Good times. biggrin.gif

My company takes us out to dinner every year. There are only seven of us so including the owers and Significant Others there were 16 of us. We all enjoy each other so it's a good time.
We've been to this Steakhouse three times now and they decided to tack on a fee for reserving their 1 private room this time. We'll go somewhere without special fees next year.
Sam's Steakhouse good food cute waiter.
