Well - Even though their on field performance has been poor for their first 3 seasons - the Toronto FC are proving to still be one of the toughest tickets in town - behind only the Leafs is season ticket subscribers. 95% of last years' season ticket holders renewed for this year and again the team have capped full season ticket sales at 16,000. Between now and January 4th they are selling tickets in multi-game packages to people on the waiting list for full season tickets. If come January 4th there are any multi-game packs left the public will have a shot at those and then the few remaining single game tickets will go on sale sometime after that. Crazy - time to expand BMO!
Actually not expansion of BMO - real grass is going in at BMO - some of the best turf MLSE money can buy as they are spending $3.5 million on the conversion. http://www.thestar.com/sports/soccer/mls/a...ams-takes-shape
And I guess the great support the team has had played a major role in TFC being able to sign a new coach this off-season - and a good one too - MLS Coach of the year with Chivas in 2007 - the Reds have signed Preki who had an excellent record with Chivas. Preki was quoted as saying that the TFC fans played a key role in his decision to come to Toronto. He said he first felt the urge to be a part of Toronto FC when he made his first visit to BMO Field on August 18, 2007, when Chivas picked up a 2-0 win against TFC. "The first time I was here a few years ago, when I saw the passion in the stands, I knew this was a place for me," Preki said. "Now, after spending some time with the management here and getting to know some of these people, I definitely know this is the place for me. This is a winning place." Lets hope he's right!
Some TFC fans will be ticked that they've let Guevara go though - but he had a bad history with Preki so I'm not too surprised. Plus I think he floated too often.
And reason for hope in Montreal with all signs pointing to a third Canadian team joining Toronto and Vancouver in 2012.
