Couldn't find the old thread where I asked this question about Allan Kayser ® who played Bubba Higgins on Mama's Family.

So I thought I'd start it over.

We saw the Emmy-winning performance of Tennessee Williams' The Glass Managerie last night and I really had a gut-reaction to how sexy Sam Waterston was in that movie, as the son. Much more so than Michael Moriarty who was supposed to be the handsome "gentleman caller".

So I looked up what the look like today and was not surprised that Waterston is still hot and Moriarty doesn't seem to have improved with age.

Also learned that Waterston has four children (two of whom have pursued some interest in acting), while Moriarty has had four marriages and apparently no children. The most interesting of the things Waterston has done since include a part in John Water's "Serial Mom", which I haven't seen but may check out now.

Moriarty is better know for a legal challenge to Janet Reno's attempt to reduce violence in the media and opposition to abortion, understandable since he is apparently childless.

Edit: Thanks for the correction about the Emmy (not Oscar) Penn State.

Sam Waterston is a terrific actor and he continues to do stellar work on Law & Order each week. He should have won an Emmy for that show years ago and probably deserved a nomination this year for his work in the season finale where his ADA his murdered. It just re-aired this past week and he was terrific.

Ummmmmmmmmm... since that version of The Glass Menagerie was a TV movie, it couldn't have won any Oscars, it's not eligible. It did win a couple of Emmy's, though Sam didn't win one (he was nominated... Michael won in that category).

OOPS! See edit to initial post. Also noticed that Waterston shares my birthdate. So that explains why I found him so sexy!!! tongue.gif

Dammit I feel almost incestuous now. rolleyes.gif

What ever happened to the Kings Sisters?

I said, "what ever happened to "The King Sisters"?
MiamiSpartan
Oh I remember them! They always had Christmas TV specials during the 60s and early 70s. Tina Cole, one of the daughters, played the wife of one of the boys on "My Three Sons".

The King Sisters

Looks like they retired after their show was cancelled in 1969.

Whatever else he has done, I will never forget Moriarty as the "normal" German who becomes an SS Officer during WWII in the miniseries "Holocaust." Although the miniseries was a little too pat, and couldn't really ever relay the horror of the Holocaust, it was one of the better attempts at historical fiction on TV. Moriarty's character was a key piece of that - a Nazi who was not simply evil or vicious, but a regular person who is sucked into the life and ends up becoming a monster. Apparently, IIRC from an interview with Moriarty, for years afterward he had people viscerally reacting to him as the Nazi when they saw him in real life - some woman even slapped him!

Interesting you should mention humanizing portrayals of WWII German soldiers. Someone recently highly recommended Army of Shadows to me, saying that the most impressionable image she remembers from it is that a German soldier is actually more considerate to one of the female French characters than members of the French resistance. She says it totally broadened her (the person who recommended) image of both sides.

Saw "Army of Shadows" 2 months ago -- terrific and gripping.

Still waiting for Army of Shadows.

Meanwhile a nice chummy shot of Byron Cherry, Coy from Dukes of Hazzards, and former flight attendant from Georgia..
..with the other Duke on the right and a really cute filling in the middle

Whatever happened to the classics? Que sera, sera.

The two people in the photo with Byron Cherry are Jameson Parker and Bruce Boxleitner. Sidenote, it was Christopher (Chip) Mayer who worked with Cherry as Dukes when Wopat and Schneider took leave of the show.

I'd say this is more evidence of my wasted youth but I was already in my 20s when "Dukes of Hazzard" aired.

Patty Duke? After her heart attack earlier this year?

Patty Duke is going by her birth name, Anna. She just narrated the PBS Documentary In Time of War , which covers the experience of the Japanese-Americans living in the Pacific Northwest during WWII. You can view all the news on her website by clicking here.

Tammy Faye report...according to her website, www.tammyfaye.com, she is still battling the cancer (she has Stage 4 Lung Cancer), and her weight has dropped to 95 lbs. Even though she's diminutive (4'11"), that is still rather thin. Hope that answers your questions, TRL.

Now, it's my turn....

1) What happened to Mark Grace (former Cub and Diamondback) after he retired?

2) What's Craig Bierko (Professor Harold Hill for Broadway's version of "The Music Man") doing these days? I hope he hasn't dropped off the face of the Earth...he's too cute!

3) Does Jennifer Grey still act?

If anyone can answer these questions, I'd be appreciative. Thanks! smile.gif

Mark Grace is chained to the radiator in my bedroom. With Mark in my bedroom, I could not care less about the other folks. Actually, Mark is a color-commentator for the Arizona Diamondbacks. I guess I'll just have to settle for a poster of him in my bedroom. Oh well, a gay boy can dream once in a while, can't he?

...Stephen Sandvoss, that innocent Mormon from "Latter Day Saints"

...is apparently still in the entertainment arts business with an older brother.

But what has he actually done lately, other than bless us with shots like the above?

Wasn't Steve in an episode of Grey's Anatomy this year?

I actually saw Stephen in Los Angeles at last summer's Outfest film festival. He was in the romantic comedy written by University of Michigan alum Ty Lieberman, "Kiss the Bride". KtB is actually in release now so it should be available on DVD soon. I thought it was cute and Tori Spelling is in it. Stephen plays a straight dude...

Yeah, besides the Mormon thing- his character in Latter Days is my ideal guy... cute, sweet and just a good guy.

The scene where he tells his mom that he may just be who God made him and she smacks him and he cries makes me cringe and feel for him every time unsure.gif

Apparently, she's married her fourth husband and divorced him after only 18 days. See if you can beat that, Kim Kardashian!

LOL, she's starring as Constance on American Horror Story. And garnered a Golden Globe nomination for her performance.
