Full Version: Versus game of the week
Tonight its the Hurricanes who have been playing much better against the Lightning. Two games this week as I believe its the Flyers/Sabres, which I am really looking forward to.
This is the first game I've watched on OLN versus this season, and after one period I want to turn it off. Joe Beninati seems to pause at random places in the middle of a sentence. Maybe you all don't notice, but it's driving me nuts. Plus, I think he said that Brind'Amour took it to the hoop while we watched a replay of his goal. Sigh.
In non-commentator related thoughts... Hockey Bay USA? I think Detroit would like a word with you.
ETA - At least he's not habla-ing some Espanol or looking for wallets. That might be an improvement, however. I don't know.

I know. I prefer Mike Emrick myself, with JD, who is now in St. Louis.

4-0 after two and Cam Ward is looking great. I think it's safe to go watch some MNF and check back on the game for updates.
Also, nice to see that Aaron Ward got a goal against the Devils. Sure is too bad the 'Canes let him get away.

Don't worry - no one down here likes the whole Hockey Bay USA thing. As you pointed out, it's clearly not unique... not even close to being unique. Plus, does one championship make your bay the hockey bay of America? The whole Lightning orginization makes me scratch my head sometimes. For example, they announce a sellout every night because somehow capacity is like 19,500 but they fit 21,000 + in there easily. I just don't get that at all. A few hundred more than capacity makes sense... not a few thousand. Also, they announced the start time for tonight's game as 6:55. Do you think your fans are stupid? Obviously it was just a ploy to try to get people to not show up late for the national broadcast. And yeah, don't even get me going on the fans...

I noticed also that I guess the fans were given some kind of a flickering light of some kind? I could see them going on and off in the background during interviews and stuff. Meanwhile, a biggie on Versus this evening, its the Sabres/Flyers.......
Sabres and Miller who just stopped a penalty shot, look extremely sharp so far. Flyers are not doing badly. Esche has looked pretty good. Lots of action.....

Wheres Blue? Would like hearing his take. I felt sorry for Esche. I mean really, how could you not. He got zero help from anybody. Sabres on the other hand, looked like the real deal. Scary!

Yep...while the red light was going on constantly, my lights finally came back on after about five days with no power.
As I write this there are still 40k or so still in the dark from last Thursdays's freak storm. But enough about that.
Sabres look tough, once again their speed totally outclassed the Flyers, see Afinogenov's move on Hatcher for the sixth goal. But invincible....nah, they should have lost in Detroit and have won three of their six by shootout.
But I likes what I sees......I just hope that they're not this season's Ottawa Senators.

Really looking forward to tonights matchup between the white hot Sabres, and Montreal who is playing some pretty good hockey.....
1-0 Sabres after 1. I don't know if I have ever heard Bell Centre louder. The fans are gunning for Buffalo. I would swear you'd think the Habs were playing the Russian Red Army team or something. Buffalo looks really sharp. Last unbeaten team left now. The first goal was a trickler on Huet...he never knew where it was. Fun game so far.
Buffalo is still unbeaten. Win 4-1 (last goal in empty net). Maybe they can break the record for most consecutive win at the start of season.
The Sabres look like a machine they way they play. Call it Borg hockey, they just keep coming and coming and coming......In tonights game we get to see the Devils/Penguins...My first look at the much improved Pittsburgh team.
This evenings matchup will be the Blackhawks @ the Flyers. Looking forward to seeing this improved Chicago team this year for the first time.
Flyers remind me alot of my Chiefs. They will have a clear shot going down into the offense, and totally blow the opportunity, but they are leading 1-0 after first. Love the wigged audience.
I AM WATCHING THE LA KINGS ON YAHOO SPORTS AND OTHERS BROUGHT TO U BY VERSUS AND LA HAS SCORED THIS AWESOME 
Poor poor Blackhawks. They reminded me alot of watching my Chiefs. I can't believe they gave up so many penalties.
Was glad to see San Jose come out of there with the win, although if that had not gotten that penalty in the final minute or so, I don't know. They looked a bit tired, but Toskala continues to impress, just like last year.
Tonights Monday Night game will be Bruins/Thrashers. My first look at Atlanta in some time. Should be an interesting game.
And on slate for this evening will be the Rangers/Devils matchup......
This was an exceptionally enjoyable game to watch. The Devils get the first two goals, and the Rangers get the last 3 goals, all in about 1 minute!!! Wow! MSG was rockkin big time.
Double header games tonight: Stars/Wings, and then Kings/Devils. It would be nice hearing something from Adam in LA.
Its always a great game when these two meet, Habs/Bruins tonight on Versus.
If you missed this game, you missed one hell of an entertaining hockey game. At one point the Bruins are ahead 4-1, but the Habs come back to tie it at 4-4, then the Bruins take the lead again, then the Habs tie it, then Boston regains the lead at 6-5 with about a minute left, and they go on to win. The Habs played really well and hard, but the Bruins chased Huet out of net for Habischer. Awesome hockey game. I always love Boston/Montreal hockey games.
It was a bad night for Huet. I saw when there was two Bruins goals and it made it 3-1 or 4-1. At least the Canadiens didn't just give up. I heard the coach wasn't too happy because the referee didn't call a penalty on a Bruins player, the play continued and he went on to score the winning goal.
Watching the Pens/Caps game. Pens have closed to within 1 goal now, Caps leading 4-3 going into the 3rd. Lots of scrums too. Great game to watch.
Sabres @ the Devils tonight. Buffalo excellent on the road, and New Jersey excellent at home. Something has got to give.
I got subscribed to this NHL Fan Faceoff survey e-mail a while back. Now and then they send an e-mail with a link to a survey. I just got this in e-mail. They're doing a survey on Versus. I've copied the questions below, but what's intriguing to me is this part of the e-mail:

TWO HOCKEY GAMES TODAY on Versus. Awesome. Game 1 is the Islanders/Sabres from Buffalo, and the second game will be from Toronto as the Bruins take on the Leafs.
I shall be there for the Sabres/Isles game in Teddy Nolan's return to Buffalo. Should be interesting......

Two games this week on Versus. YES!!! Today its the Rangers at the Bruins. Heard some interesting news the other day on the NBC game with the Ducks/Stars. I understand there are trade rumors swirling around that Forsberg may, and I emphasize may, be traded to the Rangers, which of course would be huge for the Rangers. Will be watching and listening to the hockey news....
