The axe has fallen in the City of Brotherly Love.
I woke up this morning to discover that Ken Hitchcock had been fired as Head Coach of the Philadelphia Flyers. As if that wasn't enough, it was also announced that Bob Clarke had resigned after 13 years as General Manager.
According to TSN, Assistant coach John Stevens has been promoted to bench boss, while Paul Holmgren will take over as GM.
I told you the Flyers were going to clean house. Ed Snyder hates losing, and when it was obvious that this team is an awful fit in the "new" NHL, something had to be done...that something was a new Coach and *General Manager.
*Note: I don't buy the fact that Clarke resigned. I think they're allowing him to go out "on top" so to speak, simply because of his reputation in the City.
