I put this link on the Big 12 thread, but thought I should post one here also so people who might not look otherwise would know it was up.

Lindsey Harding was the #1 overall pick.

I don't follow the WNBA or women's college hoops at all but I am curious about something. Why is the draft held the morning after the NCAA Championship game? The women competing in the Final Four have to decide whether to enter the draft before their season is even over. Seems kind of ridiculous to me.

No idea. Might have something to do with the season starting in barely over a month. They probably need to get the show on the road asap so people can try to make a final roster.

Plus, since women's players have nearly never entered before the end of their senior season, I would think most already know going into their final March run whether or not they will decide to participate in the WNBA draft camp or try to get signed as a free agent. It's actually not very similar to the way things work for the men at all.

Lindsey Harding was picked first, but from what I understand, the team immediately traded her for a center. Regardless, I'm glad those last two free throws didn't "devalue" her as a player. She had a great year for Duke.

It's interesting how many guards got picked before Latta. I'm not a fan of her, but she certainly brings a fan base with her.

It's also great to see Tiffany Jackson get her props going 5th in the first round!

The WNBA draft is now held right after the championship game and in the same city for publicity reasons. The mainstream media is still aware of women's basketball, and coaches and their players in the draft are on site. Players have made up their minds about trying for the WNBA already. After all, women can't leave college early for the WNBA. (I hope it stays that way.)
