This woman has been through stage 4 cancer and she is still coaching. I just happened to see the show on this morning. Didn't know much about her before. Can any of you shed light on this inspirational woman? I always thought she was gay. She made a lot of references to being a Christian. (I am also a gay Christian, so I enjoy seeing others come out).
WSU Cougars
She's a legend coach of the NC State women's bball program. This past season the team played under much determination and will because of Yow. They made it to the Sweet 16 but had the "cinderella" season stopped by the UCONN Huskies. But one great moment for Yow was being Duke in the ACC semifinals last season. The Bluedevils were #1 in the country and were undefeated and the wolfpack gave me their first lost.

I live here in the Triangle. My sister's partner played for Coach Yow several years ago. I have had the chance to meet her and spend a little time with her. She is an amazing woman.

Her players adore her and she keeps them focused on the right priorities. It is a shame that she has taken only one team to the Final Four (she has also won an Olympic gold as head coach in 88). She is such a fantastic coach, but she does not coach her players to win at all costs. Her players work hard and are well respected.

It was a hugely emotional day when Coach Yow returned to the bench this season in the midst of chemotherapy. The crowd was on their feet throughout the game.

I hope she continues to enjoy coaching and has the chance to continue making a positive impact on so many people. She has had a bit of a miraculous health recovery, but is still in a very serious situation. She is doing much better and feeling stronger. We all look forward to our season tickets again this year.
