Now in its second year, add the Nats to the list:

Tuesday August 8, 2006: Night Out with the Nationals - Washington Nationals.

Update: The Toronto Blue Jays decided not to have Pride Night during Pride Week this year. Yours truly and others (incl. Travelpat) are working with the Jays to organize the event, likely in August.

Discovered a number of gay sports days in Denver on the GLBT Center of Colorado website:

- Sammons Classic Golf Tournament, Monday, June 19
- Pride Night at the Colorado Rapids, Wednesday, June 21
- Pride Night at Coors Field, Friday, June 23

A reminder: the San Francisco Giants LGBT Night Out is Tuesday June 6th at AT&T Park (someone needs to tell them to update their logo--which still says SBC Park).

Your San Francisco Giants are proud to bring back our official LGBT Night Out at AT&T Park, presented by Cingular. On Tuesday, June 6th we'll be kicking off our 3rd year of LGBT parties. The pre-game festivities will start at 5:15pm in the Centerfield Plaza and will offer you a chance to grab a drink, mingle, and listen to lively music brought to you by Energy 92.7 in a fun, friendly, and like minded atmosphere.

Once the players take the field, the party continues at your seats, where we have sectioned off various locations exclusively for LGBT Night. Seating locations vary from the bleachers, view reserved or lower box.

All this is yours when you buy the LGBT Night package which includes admission to the party, a complimentary drink at the bar, and seating in the LGBT Night section. The package is only available online at www.sfgiants.com/specialevents or by calling (415) 972-2298. Be sure to get your tickets soon because these events have been known to sell out quickly.

Looks like there will be a gay day held in conjunction with the Gay Games.
Gay Games Night - Chicago White Sox, Friday July 21st

I looked for info on the Gay Games Chicago website, but couldn't find anything. Does anybody know anything about this event? It's listed on the Chicago White Sox's website, so I assume it's official.

From the St. Louis Riverfront Times, quoting Cyd Z.

QUOTE
All around the nation this weekend, tanned, muscled men will don form-fitting outfits, play with balls and then shower together.

In Denver, groups of gays and lesbians will watch them do it as they take part in Pride Night at Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies. In all this year, nine teams — from the Toronto Blue Jays to the Boston Red Sox — will host \"baseball gay days,\" as Cyd Zeigler Jr., cofounder of Outsports.com, calls them.

\"No one really knows when the first one happened,\" says Zeigler, who describes his Web site as \"ESPN for homos.\" \"But the summer of 2001 is when it took off. The Chicago Cubs was the first widely publicized one, and that summer the Braves and the Twins also had them.\"

In addition to the St. Louis Riverfront Times article posted above, asking "Why no gay day at Busch Stadium?" Cleveland Scene (scroll down) is asking about a "Gay day at the Jake"

QUOTE
Each summer, flocks of gays descend on the nation's baseball parks. Gay leaders throw out ceremonial first pitches. Gay choirs sing the national anthem. Figure skaters show up. And, suddenly, the bleachers look way more fashionable.

They're known as \"gay baseball days,\" and 14 major league clubs have hosted them in recent years. The Cubs had Out at the Ball Game day last month, their sixth gay day. The Blue Jays have \"Pride Night.\" In San Francisco, the Giants will have two gay days. Barry Bonds is expected to be a prick during both.

But in Cleveland, nothing. Kids, ladies, frat boys, seniors, veterans -- they've all been celebrated by the Tribe in recent years. But you won't find any Mr. Mrs. Sizemore sections at the Jake this summer.

* * *

\"We have never asked,\" says Sue Doerfer, director of LGBT Cleveland. In fact, Doerfer says, the gay community does little outreach with any of the teams.
Cleveland, get out there and support your teams!

Also, there's a group sales rep with the Milwaukee Brewers who has been contacting their local LGBT Center about having a gay day... to little avail so far. Gay baseball fans in Milwaukee: your team wants to hear from you! They're all set to have a gay day, if they can only find a community contact.

Just a reminder: organized by Team DC, Night Out with the Nationals II is Tuesday August 8th (vs. Florida Marlins) at 7:05pm. Gay Men's Chorus of Washington to sing the national anthem. I'm told (by Team DC president Brent Minor) that 1400(!) tickets have been sold.
dupontred
Supposedly we sold over 1600 tickets, but we'll have to hear the final numbers. Either way, it's a great accomplishment!

I was sent some pics of Night Out with the Nationals II. I will try and post them when I get a chance.

Next up: 4th Annual Gay Community Night at Phillies. Friday August 18th, 2006. Rainbow Choral of Delaware to perform national anthem.

On deck: 3rd Annual Toronto Blue Jays Pride Night. Friday August 25th, 2006. Billy Newton-Davis to perform national anthems.

On a related note, I just started a thread on gay day on the official Blue Jays message board. Mixed responses so far.

Just a reminder: Toronto Blue Jays Pride Night is this Friday August 25th (vs. KC Royals). Tickets $20 (reg. $32) at www.bluejays.com/specialevents

The 3rd Annual Toronto Blue Jays Pride Night went off without a hitch this past Friday, with the Jays winning 6-3 over the KC Royals. The Jays are now 3-3 on Pride Night (2-2 with roof open, 1-1 with the roof closed).

The event was moved from its usual Pride Week time, and the heavy advertising and postering of previous years was eliminated to cut costs. Still, there was a turnout of about 175-200, with some lively lesbians leading the section in arm-waving and the wave, and waving rainbow flags and such (which was shown on the Jumbotron in between innings).

Billy Newton-Davis was a very popular national anthem singer. Jerry Howarth, the long-time Blue Jays radio announcer came down to the field before the game to meet him, and many in the crowd recognized him.

Attendees seemed to be quite happy we had a more concentrated group than last year (when the gay group was somewhat dispersed among the general crowd).

Many thanks to Travelpat and Team Toronto, and Heather at Big Mamma's Boy (which hosted the official after-party) for their support.

============

Edit to add: Pride Night was a fundraiser for Team Toronto. I'm going to find out this week how much money the Jays will be handing over to benefit Toronto's gay & lesbian sports community.
