Mauch managed the Phillies, was the frits manager of the expansion Expos, then moves to Minnesota and finally the California Angels. He is 11th on the all time wins list and 6th on the all time games-managed list. He was NL manager of the Year 3 times.
Sadly he is most remembered for being the manager during some memorable and monumental collpases. The first was with the 1964 Phillies when they led the NL by 6½ games with 12 games remaining but lost 10 in a row and the pennant to the Cardinals.
Then in 1982 the Angels led the Brewers in the ALCS 2-0 in the ebst of five series before losing 3 straight. And most infamously he was the manager of the Angels when, in 1986, they were 1 out from the World Series before blowing a 3 run lead losing to the Red Sox in what would be known as the "Donnie Moore" game.
The guy will sadly be remebered along with guys like Marv Levy and Bud Grant, but he was still considered a fine manager who sadly fell just a bit short.
