There are eight cities vieing to host the 2010 Winter Games.
They are:
1. Andorra la Vella, Andorra
2.Berne, Switzerland
3.Harbin, China
4. Jaca, Spain
5.Peongchang, Korea
6. Salzburg, Austria
7. Sarajevo, BH
8. Vancouver, British Columbia Canada
I think that of all the cities, they will not go back to China so soon after 2008, plus i dont think Sarajevo is quite ready for it. But any of the other cities has a legitimate shot.

I am absolutely rooting for Andorra, but they're never going to get it. Their national budget is less than an Olympic games, even winter.
One interesting trivia tidbit. Andorra is the only country to be fighting WWI and WWII at the same time. When WWI came to a close at Versaille, no one thought to invite the small Pyrennes city state that had been a signator to the original articles of war. At the end of WWII, special steps were taken to make sure Andorra was actually covered under the original Versaille treaty and the treaties that ended WWII.

Gee, and all this time I thought Andorra was the mother of Samantha Stevens......

Andorra is a tiny city state in the Pyrenees between France and Spain. Think of Monacco without the casino or coastline. It has been a major destination of skiers and millionaire criminals since WWII

First off brad, that was hysterical!!!
Secondly, I would like to see Vancouver get them but if them getting the Games means the U.S. will NOT get the 2012 Games (Go San Francisco!!) then I would want another city to get them, probably Jaca. Even though the next Winter Games will already be in Europe.
Awww hell, give 2010 to Vancouver and 2012 to San Francisco. There, my work is complete

Put my vote down for Vancouver, which is reltively just a hop skip and jump away from me. I might actually get a chance to see something up there.

The IOC sometimes does the "geographic" thing, which will be interesting.
2004 Greece, 2006 Italy, 2008 China.. this should make BOTH Europe and Asia "ineligible" but maybe since it is the winter games and both are in Europe on the previous "cycle", they will go with Korea. But then again, it's been a while since Canada did anything and that would put the games back in the Western Hemisphere.
Go Vancouver!

Tidbit: Andorra is also the title of a well-received novel a few years back written by Peter Cameron, a gay author and Lambda Legal Defense attorney.
I vote for Andorra, if only because the athlete that held their flag tonight was a total hunk!
Of the cities listed, I would give Vancouver the best odds to host, followed by Jaca (though Barcelona hosted in 1992).

As a resident of the Canadian city that hosted the 1988 Winter Olympics and having been to Vancouver many times, it's nice to see all the support for the Vancouver/Whistler bid. However, the highway linking Vancouver and Whistler would need some major upgrades to be able to handle the volume of traffic expected for the Olympics. Also, I'm really torn on this one...I'd love to see Toronto host the 2012 Summer Olympics (having lost two previous bids). Awarding the 2010 Winter Games to Vancouver/Whistler will kill any chance of Toronto getting the 2012 Summer Games.

San Franscisco is bidding for 2012? How cool. I have a feeling China is going to have a magnificent opening ceremony. I wasn't too crazy about ours. I hope Vancouver gets it. Then perhaps Spain.

I'm with Marc on this one. Much as I like Vancouver/Whistler, I'd really like to see Toronto get the 2012 Summer Games. I was there when they lost the bid this summer, and it was a pretty deflating experience.

while I think Vancouver would be an excellent choice for the 2010 games, I say Salzburg, Austria is going to get it.
