There's another thread here for sob stories, but Bill Johnson's story really is tragic. Jim McKay had a segment about Bill Johnson right at the conclusion of NBC's broadcast the other night. Johnson was a gold medal in 1984 in Sarajevo, which itself would fall on disastrous times.

Johnson thought he could make a comeback, but he caught an edge on a run and suffered a frightful head injury nearly a year ago. He is now living outside Portland OR (in Gresham) and skiing slowly at Timberline on Mt. Hood as part of his rehabilitation. Here's an article from December:
