Watched the San Jose vs Colorado game today. MLS needs a sexy superstar and they have Landon Donovan! He is talented and HOTTTTTT! Get him interviews on MTV (sleeveless)! What are they waiting for?

I have to agree with you on this one. He is pretty studly. And a lot more Roddick than Kournikova. I haven't really gotten into MLS (or any professional soccer for that matter) because it's just never on any channel I get, but I know a little marketing would get interest up a lot. I, and basically all of my gay friends, have played soccer for many years and watch as much of the World Cup as possible. Putting Donovan and a few other stars (from early MLS years Meola would have worked--not sure if he's still around though, lol) in the public eye could help them a lot. The number of Americans playing soccer seems to be growing rapidly, and with a little effort I think they could get a better TV deal and convince people to watch. I know I would if I saw some of the stars around to remind me--and could find games on TV.

Is that hunky blonde guy still playing? Think his last name was McBride or something like that. He's who should be posing nude... wink

Sadly, Brian McBride chose to play in England, so he is no longer in MLS.
And as for LD taking his shirt off- I'm all for that...hell, I would even help him wink

Other than the two excellent candidates mentioned above, heres a short list of upper torso's I'd like to see exposed - just out of curiosity of course. wink
Brian Ching Chris Klein Chris Leitch Cornell Glen Deva Kovalenko Kevin Gaven Kevin Hejduk Gilberto Flores Henry Ring Thomas Shavar Jordan Stone Justin Detter Kyle Mortino Matt Taylor Roger Levesque Stephen Herdsman Steve Jolley Troy Perkins Will Hesmer Hairy chests are a plus, but the others will just fine as well.
That should get them started.
I wont even mention the European players who rip off their shirts (and more sometimes) at the drop of a yellow flag.
MLS seeks an image - a family one - so I don't expect they'll be taking our advice any time soon. But if they catch up to the 21st Century I'd be glad to offer more suggestions.
My e-mail address is at the top of the page guys. Drop a line.

So on this subject.
I for for one of the MLS Teams and the league made a rule last year that banned players from removing their shirts during the game. Any player who removes his shirt is subjected to disciplinary actions!

Colorado,
Maybe the rule makes sense during games. But why are they NOT marketing this guy?! Get Donovan in an ad for soccer balls, turf, sports drinks, hell, even long distance phone! Just get the shirt (or at least sleeves) OFF! I saw one Nike ad and started to watch his career, and I even know the names of two teams now!
AT&T uses Carrot Top! Need I say more?
