The long awaited day for Freddy Adu has finally come. The 14 year old prodigy was officially selected as a member of DC United today. Top college players, including Ned Grabavoy of Indiana, Clarence Goodson of University of Maryland, and Chad Marshall of UCLA were taken in the first two rounds.
This year's biggest winner appears to be the Dallas Burn, picking up Goodson and Ramon Nunez of SMU in the first round.
The Metros failed to make a big splash like they did last year, but picked up Maryland defender Seth Stammler, as well as coach Bob Bradley's son, Micheal Bradley.
The Columbus Crew continued their offseason rebuilding, picking up two of the top college defenders in Chad Marshall and Chris Wingert of St. John's.
DC United, after drafting Freddy Adu, had no picks until the fourth round.
Now all we need to hope for is that Seth can perform to the same levels as last year's Metro draftees Ricardo Clark, Mike Magee, and Eddie Gaven.
