I love Arsenal...They are tops in the Premiership.
Jim Allen
Erm, if by "tops" you mean "They're my favorite English league team", then yes, they're tops. Otherwise, the table indicates:

Manchester United 74 pts
Arsenal 71 pts

English league football is my favorite sport. I watch every game I can. Sportinlife, do you get cable? Does your cable system get Fox Sports World? It's not called The All Soccer Channel for nothin'.

The Arsenal v. Manchester United match last week was a bit of a disappointment. Both teams were really tight and there wasn't the free-flowing football that everyone expected. I'm a total Everton fan, so I'm kind of neutral here, but I think Arsenal stole a point. The fantastic Thierry Henry, the Frenchman, was clearly offside for the second goal. Arsenal was outplayed, really, and losing Patrick Viera, the Frenchman, was a huge loss for the Gooners.

Arsenal was unbelievable early in the season; they were the best English team--"English" being a loose term since most of the team is Johnny Foreigners--I've ever seen. They were a joy to watch but then they had to shoot their mouths off about going undefeated in the League and since then, the football gods have exacted revenge. Crashing out of the Champions League, sqaundering a big lead in the Premiership, injuries mounting etc. Sports: the great humbler.

It'll be Bolton Wanderers v. Arsenal from the Reebok on Saturday on FSW (9:00 am Pacific) and Manchester United v. the soon-to-be-relegated West Ham from Old Trafford on Sunday (11:00 am Pacific). They repeat showings of the games during the week. Interesting matches as they both affect the title race and the relegation battle.

Plus, let's not forget Manchester United's HUGE match against the awesome Real Madrid on Wednesday on ESPN2 at 11:30 am (Pacific). United is down 1-3 on aggregate show there should be some good attacking football played. I'll tape it and watch it tomorrow night.

*Sigh* I can't wait to go to England again for some matches.

Yep, I catch Arsenal and the rest of int'l football on Fox Sports World, but I think Telemundo also televises some Latin American games, as well as some European ones.

Johnny Foreigners Arse-nal are, but they sure are sexy! My fave is the bedroom-eyed Sol Campbell, the most beautiful back in EPLS!

We get the basic service which doesn't include Fox Sports, BBC, Bravo or any of a half dozen channels that I'd probably watch occassionally.

We just don't watch enough telly to justify it.

Well, Arsenal pissed away their title chances on Saturday. They were strolling against relegation-threatened Bolton Wanderers and they couldn't hold on to a 2-nil lead. They look exhausted and as such they're starting to pick up niggling injuries.

If Manchester United wins Saturday against Charlton as they should, the title'll be theirs for all intents and purposes.

So much for going undefeated in England this year for Arsenal. It looks like Manchester United will get their League 15th title, I think it is--only 3 more to tie the Red Scum Liverpool for most titles. Go you Red Devils!

BTW, I also watched the last 40 minutes of the Everton v. Aston Villa match--the TV listings had the wrong match as being on. Tense stuff as Everton fights for a UEFA Cup place, but a truly great goal by the Boy Wonder Wayne Rooney pulled out a 2-1 win for Everton. Everton is now 3-5 when I watch them on TV this year.

So is Beckham really leaving ManU for Madrid?

That's like the Queen Leaving Buckingham Palace for Gibraltar.

Forget the war, will Engaland ever be the same?

There's a good profile of Manchester United in today's Washington Post -- "Picture a professional sports team that has the tradition of hockey's Montreal Canadiens, wins as often as baseball's New York Yankees and evokes as much love and disdain as football's Dallas Cowboys. Picture a team that exudes the glamour of basketball's Los Angeles Lakers yet adheres to a financial discipline that makes Wall Street proud."

GOD I HATE THEM ALREADY!

And they of course have David Beckham!

OK, I LOVE THEM!
