Hey guys,
This is a great article from Salon about David
"Posh Spice" Beckham. I'll just let you all read for yourselves. Post your thoughts, please!

I personally like his English teammate, Michael Owen, more than Beckham.

Good article by Mark Simpson. Gay "style" is totally mainstream and integrated. Gone are the days that an earring or bleached hair said "Queer!". Whether that is a good thing or bad thing is hard for me to decide.
Becks? Pish. Owen, Scholes, Martyn and a bunch of others in the English League are better looking than him IMHO. I just don't like the "gay" look Beckham has now: the stupid haircut, the tatoos, the fake tan etc. He was actually kind of cute when he first started out with United.

I read Salon every day. I thought it was a stupid article.

It started out sort of interesting, but then started to make less sense. At the point he starting talking about Spider-Man it just went totally off the cliff.

Strange how the author, in his expansive discussion, never manages to mention his generic term "metrosexuality" was actually the title of a British TV series I saw at last year's Outfest in Los Angeles. It was certainly visually laying out his arguments, in every way imaginable!

I saw Metrosexuality at the gay film fest here in Philadelphia last year as well. The creator Beadle-Blair was there and stayed to answer questions though I had to leave before then. A couple of friends saw it again at this years festival and thought it was too fast and disjointed.
I liked it more for the edgy courage it showed in the relationships of the characters. And the guy Beadle-Blair's stage husband was having an affair with was H-O-T.

Metrosexualty was a 1/2 hour TV show--so of course it was "fast and disjointed" as it had all the commercial breaks built in.
When something is designed for the small screen, and all the distractions that entails, and is only going to be seen once a week vs. a "marathon" showing at a filmfest--all that needs to be taken into account.
So I really enjoyed it, even though I felt a bit like a rat in nerve-twitch experiment by the time it was over!

Just goes to show you.
Size doesn't always matter.
I liked it as is too. But I wish it had explored the characters in a little more depth - motivations, background, etc. But it IS just a half-hour Britcom so we here in the USA have to struggle with the context and hope we'll have our own more
amerenglish version soon.

Thanks for those last two - always a pleasure to see Man United in defeat. (Zala-thingy 1-0 Man U in the Champions League last night)
