Hi...

I'm writing in response to a column on planetout.com by Mike Sarzo entitled World Cup for the clueless. He made me quite angry in saying that the U.S. men's team "may suck, but at least they're cute." Yeah...they're cute...soccer girls and guys have the GREATEST legs. Yes the men's team has struggled over the years to compete internationally, but it is for the very reason that he mentions in the article. It is because our brutal breeder hetero men in this country fund their "brawn" sports of football in such and young men in this country do not get the exposure to the true world football (soccer) that other lads of the world do. But damn my friend...give the U.S. men a little credit...they kicked some ass over the past few years in World Cup qualifying and have made up for their less than spectacular showing four years ago. And take a look at the standings...they're in great shape to make it to the round of 16 and I believe they have a chance to go further. You point out that the U.S. finished 32 of 32 four years ago, but take a look at the defending champions France...they were number 1 four years ago but have choked this year and will not advance! Just goes to show that there is great talent in this sport all over the world and that it's anyone's game. The U.S. has made great strides in the men's soccer arena...so show some support...will ya!!!!!???

But we ARE, BTsoccergrll, we ARE! Read the other posts on this, by far the best gay sports board, and you'll see that soccer has gained followers over the past two weeks, if not before. Lots of us are staying up late, and not just on the West Coast, to watch the games live, or taping them for later viewing, and we'll be there for the USA/POL game tonite. That's the difference between THIS board and that other service you mentioned!

One other aspect to consider: before the immigration laws were changed in the late '60s, there simply wasn't a critical mass of soccer loving citizens and residents in the US. Soccer began to really take hold in the US in the '70s, with the growth of AYSO and other local leagues. Now we're seeing the results of those early efforts and they are becoming better every year. So don't fret or get angry. Bide your time by watching the games now and look forward to some kick-ass teams to come - great legs, killer abs and all!

yeah. we are supporting! Just look at the bags under my eyes! I have been getting up at 2:00am or 5:00am so I can watch the matches.

and cut us a break.... finishing 32 out of 32 does suck. I mean .... let's call a spade a spade. and the are cute! So hey! If being hot gets them more fans and more spupport, more power to em! and as far as what the "brutal breeder hetero men" think? I don't care.
