Plenty of happenings since the draft with many of the teams.
1. In what may be the biggest acquisition since Peter Nowak came to MLS in 1998, the Metros announced today the signing of former French international Youri Djorkaeff. Djorkaeff played for France in 1998 when they won the World Cup and 2000 when they won the European Championship. Interesting side note though- Djorkaeff is also the third World Cup winner to play in MLS. All have played for the Metros. And although Branco and Lothar Mattheus had their moments, they were overall ineffective.
2. Chivas USA also made a big move this week. Coach Thomas Rongen picked 8 Mexican players to join his club. Chivas also won their first preseason match in the US, 2-0 off goals by Matt Taylor and Francisco Gomez. Controversal number 2 Superdraft pick Brad Guzan picked up the shutout.
3. DC United is on a tear this preseason. They are currently riding a 5 match unbeaten run this preseason. DC is thus also unbeaten for almost 5 months. Their last loss came on Sept. 26, 2004, a 1-0 loss to the Columbus Crew.
