This Sporting News column is pretty funny -- why NFL is still superior. Excerpts:

No NFL game would ever be dubbed as a "friendly."

Slovenia vs. Paraguay, June 12. Don't mark your calendars.

That's called a tackle?

Entertainers other than Brazilian soccer stars who go by just one name: Madonna, Cher, Liberace.

If your sport somehow lets France win something, that's just embarrassing.

The World Cup's most exciting play: "Goooooooooal!"

Times that happens in an average World Cup match: 0.5

Guess they missed the Senegal sideline celebration. Madonna's backup dancers can eat their hearts out. Those guys rocked!

I'd much rather watch MIroslav Klose, Michael Ballack and Lars Ricken than any of Madonna's dancers.

I might let you have Michael Ballck and Miraslov Klose ung but you'll have to make room for one more with lovely Lars Ripken.

He is too, too cute to not share!

The guys watching the game at my house voted for Christophe Metzelder PLAYER OF The Match but all wanted to help Oliver Bierhoff adjust his shorts before coming into play.

Guess I'm the only idiot up at 3:30 in the morning for soccer on Sunday. Checked on the BF who's under the weather two floors up[snoring away.]

Just missed Argentina over Nigeria 1:0 due to a header from a mullet Gabriel Batista. Unlike most the hair actually suits him.

Sorry I missed all those cute Nigerians running around with shirts off after the game. Am I thinking about that at this hour?...YES, must be sicker than the BF...in a mental sorta way that is.

Loved that horizontal head shot by Roque Santa Cruz(don't u love that name?) to start the scoring. But SA were really impressive in getting the tie even if both scores were a bit unconventional. One bounced off a Paraguay defender and the other was a free kick on goal after a rare tripping foul by a goal keeper.

Great aggressive play by Subisiso Zuma kept them in the game but my biggest thrill was the entry of the big Greek George Koumantarakis near games end - born in Athens but grew up in Durban. And a sexy hunk anywhere. Love the diversity of the SA squad and good to see them hang in there in a tough game.

Oh and uclaute, enjoy Eng-Swe, I'm getting some shut-eye and watching tape delay. Later

italy just finished off ecuador. does anyone "work" a pair of white shorts better than Totti of Italy? the front looks good too. But man! when he's shown throwing in or kicking or running or ..... hell! he can just be doing any damn thing he wants.... from the backside.... he is unbelievable.
